why would we want this ? What is the failing with current CVS based system ?

yeah, definitely !
despite my eariler claim, it was the KDE removal patch causing the problem.
It clashes with Lars' changing AM_PROG_LIBTOOL to AC_PROG_LIBTOOL. Lars,
why did you change this ? Can it be changed back ?

Over the next few weeks I'll try to do these tasks for LyX. As far as
I can tell they all need doing, any comments?
1) Move all images from www-user and www-devel into a /images
directory and adjust all tags accordingly.
2) Remove any remaining tags
2.5) Add CSS for all formatting

Larry is of course completely wrong. It's quite obvious: qt is an easy to
use, gpl'ed, c++ widget set with a dialog designer, localisation tool, xml
libraries, sophisticated table widgets, slots and signals, etc. It would be
completely outrageous to replace xforms with qt. We've got a much bett

i reported this some time ago!
- open a new doc with class article and rest default;
- insert a float with a figure and any caption
- run dvi-view
and you'll get errors, because lyx don't write the
command \usepackage{graphic} in the tex-output.

Some of us recall wistfully the adaption of a 1.0 vintage LyX from
xforms to QT in "a week" (or some other ridiculously short period of
time, was the claim) by one of the original core developers and, if I
recall correctly, one other gentleman.
I can't help but wonder whether GUI "independence" i

Hi
I have for some time used LyX on my SuSE PPC box. Now i am upgrading my
other mac for os x and wonder if there is any binaries available for os x.
I can run a lot of gnu software using xfree4.1 on mac os x, so what about
LyX?

Pairs of double quotes curl in different directions but single quotes
don't. It doesn't look correct.
Your bug number 19 seems to indicate the problem (I think):

the sentence "He said 'Hello!'", the single and double closing q
