Ok, I have found something that might explain the update stuff
reported in pre4. If you are updating foo.lyx _and_ have foo.tex also
in the same dir as foo.lyx the wrong foo.tex may get into the
dependency file.

Are there any plan
I tried to put this into a figure, and it kills lyx. Not only does it
kill it, but on restart and using autorecover, it either kills it again
or denies that the autosave file is a lyx file.
If I run it through ps2epsi it works.

Hi folks,
The attached patch adds statement paper to LyX-1.0.4pre4. Statement
paper is 5.5" x 8.5", similar to A5. It is supported by gs, gv, and
psutils, but I had to fix up book.cls in teTeX-.9 , which could probably
be done in layouts, and add the following lines to ps.config

Hello!
I have many crashes with LyX 1.0.3 concerning the error for which I
had already sent you back trace log.
I do not have time to try to change to new xforms.
In the meantime, I had few other crashes, for which I am sending you two
more log files.
I hope it will be of some help.
