Hello all
I no developer of lyx, but am reading the lyx-devel-List very often. As I
am physics student I always wondered how to create Pages on the internet
with formulas. There is the possibility to create gifs with the formulas,
or trying to make the formulas with pure html (ugly) or using a
java-applet (downloads very long).
But then I had an idea. How about using LyX (or a LyX-Viewer or something
other) as a plugin for netscape (or other browsers). Mathed is the most
wonderful piece of software I ever saw on a computer. Why not use it as a
viewer? You could create your pages (there would have to be some
possibility to create hyperlinks) using LyX and put the *.lyx-Files on
your Homepage and others could then view them with the LyX-Viewer. If you
have LaTeX you can also print it. So all you would need is a LyX without
editmode, just as a viewer. Maybe a softlink to lyx. Would it be possible?
Or is it to hard to seperate editor and viewer?
The *.lyx-Files could become the new standard for scientific sites. Or you
could even use latex-Files with latex2lyx. Wow.
I bet, many scientist would like to create homepages with formulas, but
haven't found any simple system till now.
Well. Just an idea. I don't demand anything. Just think about it.
btw: I am german. So please forgive my bad english... :-)
