Hi!
Generaly I recommand using Bezeq leased modem. When leasing the modem from
Bezeq whenever you have a malfunction it is their problem. Take into account
that the modems are prone to thunders, power spikes etc. I already had 2 of
them burnet out within 2 years ( two different installations).
Hi!
Are you using PPTP or PPPoE ?
If you use adjust tcp mss in for the ppp interface you need not change any
other MTU.
Lately, bezeq recommands using ppp keep alive with the Samsung PPPoE modem.

What about trying tarcepath ? That will get you much more information.
Also try the resolver for dns names. Use ip numbers when tracinging the

if you get nowhere, try to sniff the activity (tcpdump/ethereal). Make

There is only pptp .
Try to understand the debug info and correct your setup. Anyway, since your

is ppp that fails.

You probably have the reverse dns lookup problem. The Linux machine tries
to reverse lookup the 10.0.0.2 address, but since you are not connected to

Try to disable reverse lookup.

breaks http for NAT clients. What you should do is run an apache server

Sory, but we still are having problems with the new Orkit model.

Hi!
Yes. it works. Will go in the next HOWTO version. There are some fine
points which I still have to figure out.

Welll..
I am taking care of item #2, and I already sent the Bezeq guy a note about
it.
You will still have to cancell your specific order.

you have to set the default gateway to the ppp0.
see your /etc/ppp/options (and add defaultgateway there?).

Hi!
Attached is the latest version of the ADSL howto.
I would like to know of users with ATUR3 modems and Alcatel modems who are
willing to help with testing some finer points of the setup.
This will help with ip masqurading problems some of you are having.
Thanks,
Dani

pp packets , that may or may not be
compressed. so it is hard to calculate the exact mtu size.

Haim,
Why does your connection die in the first place? Mine never does.
Maybe your ISP limits your idle time? try running something like xntp with
frequent updates, so it will keep the connection up?

I did encounter that problem , but not after killall pptp . This is
something that has still to be fixed in the pptp though.

try to use the ppd option to run a script when the ppp session terminates.
This script will kill the old pptp and start a new one ..

Guy,
We solved it by ading the mtu 1452 mru 1452 in the pppd command. The
ethernet may stay mtu 1500.
more over, if you set the ppp mtu = eth mtu you might create fragments (as
the ppp sends data to pptp and pptp adds its own header, thus ecceeding
the ppp = eth mtu.
Can Alcatel / ATUR3 if this
Gilad,
I have pointed that in the HOWTO. Anyway, I believe you can log in to the
ADSL , change the netmask to class C , move the host to 10.0.0.x and use
the rest of the 10 net to whatever you find useful.
