Bob,
In the US, a DAR inspection is the only FAA inspection required on an Amateur

other inspections are typically by an EAA Tech Counselor and are strictly

I would not send him nothing to do with the airplane,if he is not going to

Netters;
I had the world's worst experience with an FAA inspector. His first
statement was, "I don't have any experience with homebuilts and don't know what
I'm looking at." Then he proceeded to lecture me ad nosium...about something
that he admitted he didn't know anything about. After
I used the FAA for my KR-2S. It was two weeks after I contacted him that he
came to do the inspection. He was as nice as could be. And I saved $500.00

APPLICANT for the repairman's certification must have constructed at least 51%

So why is he a DAR?Bob
FOR THE MONEY around here it is between $350 and $500 for a sign off. When you
see what he has to do it comes out to about $100 an hour. Not bad money

I am asking this on the net so those of us who are getting close to a DAR
inspection will know.
Larry Flesner, Is there anything we should know or do, with the DAR, prior to
calling for an inspection to get them out promptly? I presume your DAR has not
been there yet. Why is he delaying?

Mark, I talked to the DAR in my area and he wanted to
come down before I was even ready. He's called me back
several times asking when I needed him here. With me,
it's only a matter of finishing the plane and paying
the DAR $400.00. Rick Wilson.
