I don't actually own a flying KR 2 yet either but have soloed both Martin
Roberts KR and Steve Alderman's KR and I had no KR instruction at the time I
flew Marty's airplane.
I did however own a Grumman TR 2 and had a few thousand hours of tailwheel time
in a variety of airplanes.

Netter's,
Up until recently, what Mark listed was in fact the case. After some
unrelated issues arose, RR has determined the production and delivery of
plans may be better suited to having us take care of it. I spoke with

While I am working on two KR projects with original registered plans, I
would like to make the following observation.
With all the modifications that have been made over the years by all the
builders (finished and in process)... is the KR series as currently built
and flown really still the same
I have about 100 hours of AA1B time, ~50 cub/champ and 0 in a KR but I would
think that yes Yankee time would be good training for the KR. I plan on
getting some RV tailwheel time before I try my hand at the KR. I have also
heard of people getting Pitts time too.

I got home with it and found the mouse still living there.

That makes sense. Thanks for the answer. My KR was built to plans only as
regard to laying out the sides for the boat. (Wider, different wing, canopy,
landing gear, tail section, .)
Back to building.

Glad to hear that you are pulling through the flood.

the important part to the average guy.Hope things are getting better for

Hello Group -
I have been a long time list member, but this is my first post, and I need some
help from the group.
I am very close to purchasing a flying KR2, and need some last minute help from
the group to ensure I can actually and SAFELY fly this thing.
I am by no means a low time pilot, as

Almost all of the KR's built today are barely related to the original KR.
We, the builders over the past 35 years have made the wonderful changes that
make the KR what it is today. Ken Rand (KR) was certainly our inspiration

Just a dumb question?
If you down load and NOT purchase a registered set of plans can you still build
the KR and call it a KR? or will you have to call it something else?

Well, after visiting http://www.fly-kr.com/ , I find no address at all for
RR anymore.
I guess the bit torrent is currently the only way to a set of drawings,
other than the rare used set.
A Google search would probably turn them up in about .27 seconds. I have no
idea what RR is thinking rega
Here's the story on plans. Rand Robinson has refused to give up the plans
business to NVaero, and for a long time Steve at NV had to buy them at RR's
price and send them to builders paying the shipping out of his pocket. For
a little while he's gotten a very slight break from RR so that he's
