I had similar issues once (around 4.2.0 I think). I reinstalled kde4 and
removed .kde4
Both things really suck, but after that quite a few problems including that
one dissappeared.

Just to prevent other people from reporting this, it doesn't work for me
as the scripts expect PORTS and KDE in relative paths. This works:
cd Tools/scripts
./portsmerge
./kdemerge
Will starting building now and then do some testing!

want to risk mixing packages on my work computers.
Of course I would love to stick with the KDE apps, but it would be really
helpful right now to know if there is a plan/timeline for updates, or whether
this is completely unknown right now.

gdb and setting the path fixes the first warning and the
crash, but the warning concerning the ttys stays and the whole thing doesnt
seem to work.
Of course I have checked the permissions and even added my user to the tty
group.

from Miwi where he recommends Fam. Is it possible to change to Fam now,

I had a Port that needed it on FreeBSD 5.3 aswell, but that didn't need
it later anymore. I am not sure, whether something changed in
FreeBSD-Base or in the Ports system, but it works since 6.0 for me.

Yeah, thats a juk-problem. It starts to play a second track, than lowers
volume for corssfading and then raises volume again, which sounds kinda
weird.
