Here are the results. With a late rally, the PPMC backed the community vote
and elected to use the Git Branching Model and move to Git ASAP. Several
folks volunteered to help Infra move Flex to Git.
Thank you,

The PPMC discusses this on flex-private.
The PPMC is aware of your needs.
The process typically involves a DISCUSS phase followed by a 72 hour vote.

Sounds good… strange that Apache doesn't have a code signing process in place

What makes a list public versus private? infrastructure-dev archives are
publically accessible from Markmail. Here's a thread on Git support:

Any Flex committer can get a non-commercial SmartGit license at no charge.
If you have already installed SmartGit with a trial license and you want
to switch you can google and find the xml file you have to edit to
convince it to switch to a non-commercial license.

I just e-mailed infrastructure-dev-subscr...@apache.org and did the list
subscription thing. They didn't purge me automatically, so I can say that
it works.

Well, crap. I'm sorry, I thought infra-dev was public.
I'm on infra since yesterday, but I haven't posted yet.
What skills does everyone bring to the table?
I somewhat decently know my way around a *nix shell, but it's not my
preferred way of getting things done. If I do anything that needs to be
repeatable via the shell, I lean on Perl, which I'm p

Thanks Greg for pointing me to the list. Here's my first problem.
*"Participation in these lists is only available to ASF committers."*
So, to get into I need to be first a commiter. So I request it here and now.
Could someone tell me if it's possible?
In the meanwhile I'll continue to get mor

I agree. Let's get on the infra list and see if we can help.

Carol, Om,
My $0.02:
- a RELEASE_NOTES makes sense;
- my suggestion would be to have whiteboard, tags, branches and trunk
in the root of 'utilities' and place the 3 project folders in trunk, I
like 'common', 'installer' and 'installerBadge' with project names to
match. This (to me) looks cleanest
Cool, thanks for getting the ball rolling.
I'll subscribe to the infra list and will start reading up on the state of
things tonight.
