My successful method was:
ln -s /usr/local/j2re-1.4.1/plugins/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so
/usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins
Note: /usr/local/lib, not /usr/lib

apt-get install ImageMagick
$ mogrify -geometry 800x600 bigpic.jpg

Way too tired.
Thank you both for your advice. I'm going with dumpmpeg, the resulting

Hi all,
My migration is complete! I'm now using Debian for everything possible,
and my Windows development has been relegated to a bare-bones standalone
box! :D
Any deb packages out there that will enable me to take a screenshot? I

I altered the BIOS setting so the IRQ is not
allocated to PCI VGA. Failed to make any difference.
Theories I might suggest:
1. Hardware fault within the sis900 chip.
2. I need to add parameters to the module insertion (which are unknown
to me)
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks, Tim
