Also, as mentioned in a followup, you can copy a mostly working
/boot/config-version file to your .config and then run 'make
oldconfig' which will start you off with the previous configuration.
Then you can tweak changes starting from that base.

Intel site and our network dropout problem completely went away. I
think I saw that Intel opened the code up and so the e100 driver will
enter the mainstream in the future, likely replacing the eepro100

Therefore I think the answer is that traditional unix behavior has
been replaced with contemporary ms behavior many places. Mozilla has
been around for a long time and must be using the "normal unix"

the bf24 kernel but is the '8139too' driver, the Linksys uses the

I've been running my debian system without a backup for about a year
now. I understand the need for backup (hence this message) so please, no
assaults for not using one.
Questions:
1) what is better for backup, tape, or CD? (I already have a CD burner)

Haven't used amanda, have you? Just set yourself up with a
decent-sized holding disk and it's not a problem. (Your backups will
finish fast, too.) My amanda server at work can easily run a week's
worth of backups without needing a tape, just saving it all up on the
holding disk. Just be sure t

First, even though I'm using KDE, I do think this is a debian question.
Whenever I install a new app, the KDE menus get updated. Cool. Better
than I've seen in other distros.
However, some apps I install aren't debian packages. How do I update the
KDE menus to see my new apps? I've been able to
ect to handle these cases (i.e. finding a new mantainer without consent
of the current) ??
