How do you use the CD rom for installing the packages through Dselect. In
the screen to select the device to be used, it asks for the block id. What
is that?

You must set up which device its on. You can find this out by looking in
dmesg. They are looking for something like /dev/hdb, /dev/hdc etc, based
on where your cdrom is located on the machine.

Hi!
I am trying to compile a testing version of exim on my Debian/hamm
system. This particular exim version happens to be the first version
that uses embedded perl. The compile fails because I don't have gdbm
installed on my system. exim itself is configured to use dbm and

For now, yes. Quite likely perl's dependency on gdbm will be remove in a
future version of the perl packages.

Hi,
I've just installed Netscape4 using the Debian installer. I installed
all the dependencies, but Netscape complains it can't load libXt.so.6.
I'd be grateful to know which package contains this.
Thanks, Mark

Another option would be to use the package tripwire, which can monitor
files for changes.
Ciao,

Yes, it is at least part of
Hi! I'm new to this list, but I've been using Debian (bo) for about eight
months. I hope you can help me with a question I haven't been able to
answer.
Can anyone point me to information about setting up a PCI modem card to
work with PPP and/or SLIP? I've been trying to find information about
