Eroaster is a nice (GTK and Python) program to burn CD
(audio and Data) built on top of cdrecord..
But I have a feeling it is broken right now..
As for nautilus, I am not sure what they use. they
have libnautilusburn ...
I am going to give a try to xcdroaster instead of K3b
Thanks

What do you get with
$ cdrecord -scanbus -dev=ATAPI
then you can use -dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 or -dev=ATAPI:0,1,0
etc. with cdrecord depending upong which drive you

This may seem too simple but I used xcdroast in X. It found my ATAPI CDRW
drive and gave me the access string which was ATAPI:0,0,0. I was then able
to use that at the command line for cdrecord.
Also, you may want to take a look at
/usr/share/doc/cdrecord/README.ATAPI.setup.

Greetings,
The cd-r can be on any drive, master or slave. Mine is set up as following:
cdrom: /dev/hdc (secondary master)
cdr: /dev/hdd ( secondary slave)
and I've had no problems. I'm not sure about whether lite-on will work or
not. My drive was not listed on the cd-r but it works, so there could

I'd guess that
I do not know your problem well, but ...
In order to get answer, you need to post /etc/fstab and softlink linked
to /dev/scd0.
Any rate, Is scd0 mounted properly using /dev/scd0 but not with /dev/hdc?
Just curious.

No argument there. There can be many good reasons to recompile the kernel.
It just isn't required in this case. Also, there are lots of Linux users that
are afraid to build the kernel. For those folks, this lets them put it off a
little longer.
I really like the way potato (and later I assume)
You must re-compile your kernel. You also need to
REMOVE ide cdrom support, because the scsi emulation
will replace the ide cdrom driver. This is needed
because CDRECORD only uses scsi protocol. You will
then access the cdrom as /dev/scd0. In my computer I

You can put the cdrw drive as the master on the
secondary channel, and (if you want) put the old cd

copy cd's there is really no reason to even keep your
