missing header files?

1999-06-09 Thread Josh Huber
Either they're missing, or I don't know what package they're kept in, but I'm missing files such as: /usr/include/huge_val.h /usr/include/bfd.h and others...but I'm not sure what else... On a redhat system, it looks like rpm reports them to be part of glibc-devel. (on i386) Any clues? Josh

xterm-debian???

1999-07-29 Thread Josh Huber
Why does debian choose to set the TERM variable to xterm-debian, thereby making programs complain about unknown term types on remote machines? Is there a way to easily change this? Josh

package dependancies

1999-09-06 Thread Josh Huber
s ae diff bash debianutils bsdutils base-passwd Any ideas? I must be missing something, as I think I'm doing it in the right order. Josh

Re: package dependancies

1999-09-07 Thread Josh Huber
other response to my original email why this might be screwed up. The permissions were most likely incorrect on my setup because of the fact I didn't use the 'p' switch to tar when decompressing the base tgz file. (retain permissions) I don't know if that was the problem -- I'll check later today after I get home. Josh

system working again...

1999-09-13 Thread Josh Huber
l missing many binaries/files. 4. while I'm at t, does anyone have any experience with using mule (japanese in particular) with emacs, and getting japanese fonts set up with debian? are there packages for this that I could use? Thanks, Josh

Re: console-apt

1999-09-14 Thread Josh Huber
n that appears to be available... as a side note, emacs20 does work fine when installed with dpkg --force-depends, but then apt-get complains that the dependancies are broken, and won't let me install any other packages unless it removes emacs first -- very annoying. Can anyone suggest a fix? Josh

dhcp?

1999-09-17 Thread Josh Huber
Does debian have plans/have a more robust method for starting up network interfaces? The one /etc/init.d/network script that is default (on ppc anyway) is somewhat lacking Particularly, in the department of dhcp, how would that be done properly on a debian system? Josh
