The differences are important, tho:
- SSDs are silent.
- HDDs are not silent.
- Some operations are much faster with the SSD (tho those don't
affect me very much, in practice, so it's not the main selling point).
- Oh, did I mention how little noise SSDs emit?
Stefan
, all in all, a modern SSD can be used "any way you like" without
taking any special measures, just like your old HDD, and you should
expect it to perform well and live a long life. Even if it's "full" and
even if you swap to it like crazy (which won't be the case anyway,
since swap is so rarely used nowadays).

for normal use.
But it probably won't be sufficient if/when you try to hibernate.
What I do:
- use LVM.
- allocate swap as an LVM volume.
- grow swap on the fly if/when it proves insufficient. So far,
I did bump into a "can't hibernate" situation on an 8GB machine with
a 4GB swap, so my 8GB machine has 6GB of swap currently.

Changing /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume shouldn't affect going into
hibernation at all (it does affect resumption, of course), so there
might be some other problem at play here.

It's easy to work around this problem: don't use UUIDs.
After all, if you're us

This did not help. The ati driver is just a wrapper around all the
