Just to note that the Fedora folk have fixed this for their 4.5.0 rc6
distribution – sound now works fine. Their 4.4 kernel always worked
fine, it was their 4.5 kernel that failed – compare it was the 4.4
kernel in Debian that has the problem.

Ack, since this is now tracked in #8165
what's the status of this? 0.7.2 was released recently, and we would
start to use it pretty soon (in Jessie, so a backport will be needed,
i can handle it if you prefer). is there a plan to update pymysql
soon?
