Our hull is painted dark blue and you can see a little of the grid pattern
in places. You have to look just so, usually from below when the boat is
out of the water. I can't see it in the summer when the boat is in.

If the pattern is a square weave of approx 1/4" threads, then it's the roving
showing through the gel coat and skin out (matte) coat due to post-cure
shrinkage. It's cosmetic.
