The visible weave could be seen on the side of my previous boat, a'72 30 MKI. It was there from at least 2001. I was told in the survey that it was cosmetic, or maybe by the surveyor and it was never mentioned in the actual survey...can't recall exactly.
Strangely enough, I never remember noticing it in the water, only on the hard.
