Dennis,

        Never noticed it before Saturday -- could have been there all along. My 
head was less than a foot away and it was probably only visible because the way 
the light was hitting it. 

        But, for those on the list who thought it had something to do with the 
holodeck or transporters, we think it's probably the deflector grid and shield
