Nah, it is from when he turned on the Corbomite Device... that thing always causes print through!

The grid probably emerged when you overheated the dilithium crystals.

Dennis,

Never noticed it before Saturday -- could have been there all along. My head was less than a foot away and it was probably only visible because the way the light was hitting it.

But, for those on the list who thought it had something to do with the holodeck or transporters, we think it's probably the deflector grid and shield generators.

All the best,

Edd

Edd,

If the pattern is a square weave of approx 1/4" threads, then it's the roving showing through the gel coat and skin out (matte) coat due to post-cure shrinkage. It's cosmetic.

Too bad we couldn't look at it at Mystic. Could have told you for sure.

What many don't know is our plastic boats, regardless of age are still curing. The resin/catalyst reaction is essentially complete after a few days but technically continues to cure for years. Plastic shrinks with age. Sails shrink, even in the bag in your basement.

Touché' had that pattern at midships. When I painted the boat last year I removed it by sanding with a Hutchens sander. Hull is noticeably smoother now.

Listers,

We hauled the Enterprise Saturday afternoon (so sad) and once everything was settled, I could see a visible "grid" on the starboard side of the hull above the waterline, 3 feet tall and about 6 feet wide.

Should I be worried?

All the best,

Edd
