For those interested, there are some great 3 and 4 minute videos on the
Farr 40 class web site from this past week in Chicago...local boat,
Flash Gordon 6 won. Spinnaker exploding, great skyline shots,
etc..no end for end jibes on these machines.

If you are dip pole jibing, the baby stay has to be released/slackened
otherwise the pole can't cross over. On an end for end jibe, I guess it
is possible to do with the baby stay attached but I would definitely get
it out of the way.

"Safety is a wash.
you either have a 13' pole hanging on a line with both ends detached,
but unloaded.
or you have a 13' pole attached to the mast but the free end moving at a
high rate of speed toward your bowman on the pointy end.
Neither is inherently safer than the other.
Lots of good advice/experience on this subjectinteresting reading.
From someone who has worked foredecks and has executed jibes from there
on various sized boats, my preference would be for 'dip jibes' simply
out of selfish reasons, my safety!

The Nicro Marine vent on my boat is identical to the one in this video:

Don't know if you are familiar with 'dry ice blasting', but with this
method, there is no 'toxic runoff'. The only residue with the removal
of antifouling paint is the 'actual antifouling paint' which can be
contained with a 'drop sheet'.

A pressure washer will not remove an ablative paint. When our boat is
hauled every Fall, the bottom is pressure washed by the yard staff and
while it might remove a small amount of the paint, it will not remove it

That was my formula to match the gelcoat on our boat. I broke the

I started the gelcoat repair by mixing the gelcoat in a "plastic bottle
