I've tried to make a backup of "new" FD (2.4.x) on "old" DIR and SD (1.38.x)
and it doesn't work, due to protocol differences between old and new
version. So I had to upgrade both DIR and SD. I can assume that it won't
work in opposite direcrion, too.
h "one job per volume" feature. Then You will get as many new or
recycled volumes as jobs. So, finally You will replicate only last altered
volumes with a size of made backups.

Let's imagine you are a Bacula and you've got a following situation
described above. How do you distinguish with 100% accuracy that new files
are the same as in prievous backup? Again, with 100%
ks, you need to not backup these symlinks and told Bacula to do so (a
special preparation of the fileset).
If you need to check a contents of the file before backup, then you will
read a file twice. You can resolve this using base jobs.
