Hi,
I'm trying install bacula 1.36.2 on NEC UX/4800 R 13.5, with gcc 2.95.3 and
make 3.80, on make I have errors:

Dave,
you might want to inform the developers mailing list, too (which I just
did ;-)
I don't know if they all read the userlist as well.

Still, the version information is not really precise...
When I had had the first trouble I'd been using 1.36.2, so I upgrade to
1.36.3, it means my 2nd problem was with version 1.36.3.
Ok, so we have to assume then that there is no possibility of problems
with the file system or disk drives... s

Anyway, you should still have a file restored - but it will possibly be corrupt just as it would be if you were using another backup system.

No (not to my knowledge).
Actually an ODBC-driver would be cool (IMO), it would server many many needs
like this.

Hello,
I can not remember the specific feature vss or something, it's a feature of
the upcoming bacula windows client that allows it to backup windows files
even if they're open. If i can be of assistance with this i would like to do
so.

Hi Ogee,
you say you are getting checksum errors.
This will be because you are backing up files whilst they are changing.
No backup system can cope with that.
If you use (ufs)dump for instance it will appear to work but you will still get
a corrupted file.
The good thing about bacula is
Hi
Evelyne,
if bacula detects a tape is already

All
you have to do is use tar, dd or something else to write something to the tape
to overwrite the existing bacula label before attempting to

This is my first experience with bacula. I want to install and give it a
test ride to determine if this will work for our group.
I have installed the server and client bacula v1.36.3.
I have manually tested the mx-changer and it work fine.
I have run the test mode of btape and had no problems.

Hi Evelyne,
From the manual :
*My Catalog is Full of Test Runs, How Can I Start Over? *
If you are using MySQL do the following:
cd /src/cats
./drop_mysql_tables
./make_mysql_tables
If you are using SQLite, do the following:
Delete bacula.db from your working directory.
cd /src
What on earth are you rambling about? Bacula is great, and covers all the typical (and more!) needs in a production enviroment! Bacula is, in my opinion, at this date the premiere solution for doing backups.
I had thought so, but not know, because of problems, I have!
One question to you Ogee:
Hello,
I use an Exabyte EZ17 autoloader.7 tapes. I tested it. All was OK.
I cleaned the database (drop_bacula_tables + make_bacula_tables) after testing
and I run a first job.

It appears that the Database schema follows its own versioning independent of

I conclude that I am running a Version 7 database schema (select *
