You motherfuckers won't help me, ALSA has shitty documentation, and there is

I don't know that much about your system, but there should be a way to
reserve the IRQ 12 through a BIOS setting.
During boot up, go into BIOS maintenance and find the way to reserve
IRQ 12. Then the BIOS will not a
Very interesting - I get the same result using
aplay -D plughw:0 -f S16_BE -t raw -c 2 -r 44100 chopin.raw

be swapped for the Audiophile, but I have a vague idea that this is a
symptom of a trickier problem.

Hello,
I've been trying to get alsa in linux 2.6.0-test* working on an Intel
E7505 system(Dell Precision 450). The modules load, I maxed out
everything in the mixer, and aplay -l lists a device, but I can't get
actual sound to play. I'm new to alsa, so I was hoping somebody could

Hi
I have one of those problematic USB Audiophiles and up to now I only could get
static from the soundcard. when using it under Linux (no problem while using
Windows). But at laest the static was pretty consistent, always sounding the
same...so I had no problem with this non deterministic "I w

try
modinfo soundcore
and if it looks ok then
modprobe soundcore
hope this will work

Right, but from what I see in
kernel-source/2.4.22/Documentation/Configure.help this module is enabled
with CONFIG_SOUND and with ISA PnP cards, which I don't have.
I tried enabling ISA PnP compile but it
note that snd_ prefix is obsolete now.
I know. I changed that in my modules.conf
anyway, if that is the whole entry, then no idea what's wrong.
just a dumb question: you did run "depmod -a" and reload isa-pnp
module?
I rebooted, which I think achieves the same effect.

As I am still in the process of finding a usb interface suitable to my
needs, here is another option.
Has any of you been using the m-audio/midiman audio quattro? Would you
suggest this or the Edirol UA-5?
The point is that if the quattro has the same issues as the Edirol-UA-5,
then I will go fo

don't you have other lines to define the option for isa-pnp?
What other lines do you mean?
This is my modules conf:

probeall usb-interface usb-uhci

OK. Unfortunately, no improvement. InterWave continues to occupy irq 12.

So this one is curious:
I have ALSA compiled and configured from the latest Gentoo portage, the
version is 0.9.2 with a 2.4.20 kernel. I get lots of clicks and pops when
playing CDs or ogg vorbis audio. Then just tonight I play this divx movie
with mplayer and the clicks are gone. WTF?! I noticed
I use a stock 2.4.22 kernel and an emu10k1 soundcard.
Alsa-drivers, -libs, and -utils all compile successfully. However,
after loading modules with "modprobe snd-emu10k1" the following error
message occurs when I run alsamixer:
alsamixer: function snd_mixer_load failed: Inappropriate ioctl for d

I own a Gigabyte Motherboard that came with the Realtek ALC 655 sound chipset.
I have installed the alsa drivers (version 0.9.8) but I still don't know how
I should configure my modules.conf? Anybody can help me???
Best regards,

add the module option of isa-pnp:
options isapnp isapnp_reserve_irq=12
so that irq 12 is not used by isa-pnp.
No improvement.
cat /proc/interrupts shows that Interrupt 12 is still occupied by
InterWave (the Gravis Ultrasound chipset).

Does "/etc/init.de/alsasound stop" stop ALSA and

I have Gravis Ultrasound PnP. It's an ISA card.
It works reliably in Mandrake 9.0. No installation of alsa from sources
was necessary (unlike older Red Hat distros). The example line from alsa
docs "options isapnp isapnp_reserve_irq=9,10,11,12,13" was sufficient.
In Mandrake 9.0, my GUS PnP use

It seems Stephane Alnet got it to work. See the alsa-devel archives of
July (the schedule() bug mentioned there has been fixed in ALSA 0.9.6
IIRC).

Hello,
I have intel 845 chipset in laptop Compaq Evo N800v (82801CA
southbridge). I tried to get alsa work with full-duplex. But I failed.
(single stream operations work fine)
1. Do this card have support for full duplex ?
2. Is there anyone, who is running fullduplex on this card ?
3. How can I
I'm new to alsa, and was wondering if the alsa community could help me
figure out what I'm doing wrong with my configuration.
I just bought the MSI K7-Delta with the VIA kt600 chipset
The board has integrated sound and when I grep /proc/pci for the audio
information this is what I get
