I'm new to alsa, and was wondering if the alsa community could help me
figure out what I'm doing wrong with my configuration.

I just bought the MSI K7-Delta with the VIA kt600 chipset

The board has integrated sound and when I grep /proc/pci for the audio
information this is what I get

"via8233/A/8235"

So I installed alsa with the via82xx driver using the howto on the alsa
website.

I'm running gentoo and I've tried installing alsa using the gentoo alsa
guide as well.

I can get sound working, and what I mean by that is, there is only one
level for the sound. "On" I can using the pcm slider in the alsamixer
to turn the volume on or off. There is no adjustment though. I can't
change the volume level.

I would really like to be able to adjust my sound level. What am I
doing wrong

I have installed alsa-oss and alsa-utils. I have the modules.conf file
setup exactly the way I'm suppose to.

Thanks

Jeremy West
