What is the 0.7 version ? There won't be any features more in it, most
of (if not all) bugs are fixed, so why don't we release this version, so
that we won't loose time to maintain 2 branches...
If we want Wormux to be integrated in more distros, we have to release a
stable version and the 0.7 branch is stable enough, I think.

0.7 release : +1 :-)

[Wormux-dev] Wormux 0.7 is out

Hi all,
Before we introduce others features in Wormux and other bugs, I took the
initiative to release a 0.7 version of Wormux :
http://download.gna.org/wormux/wormux-0.7.tar.gz

Let's compile and make the world knowing this... Does anybody have a
list of new features since the last release ?

Hi,
Have you subscribe to the wormux-gna maillist ? I have opened a bug (and
closed it) about the turkish translation so that it can be reopened when
a new message needs to be translated. If you have not subscribed, either
you can do it, or I can simply add you address to the bug so that you
will be informed of the reopening of the bug ? What do you prefer ?

[Wormux-dev] Releases rhythm

2006-04-11 Par sujet artefact
Hi,
Since the 0.7 (one week ago), 2 languages have been added (Romanian and
Turkish) and a weapon has been improved (baseball). I'm currently
working on integrating Wormux into Debian and some (little) issues have
been discovered by the Debian team and have been put into trunk.
Therefore, I think we could release a 0.7.1 with following changelog:
- Added 2 translations
- Improved baseball weapon
- Minor fixes on build process

I we want to fix date we should have a branch which could be frozen but
we don't have enough people to do this. But it's sure we should have a
process for releases...
Maybe the following system could be good for us FOR MINOR RELEASES
(0.7.x). When someone thinks a release can be done:
- identify a revision number and post a mail on this list
- write a litlle changelog (can help identify if this revision worth a
release)
- make a tarball with 'make dist', not a tar 'by hand'
- put the tar on gna in a 'tobereleased' dir
- wait for 2 or 3 devs men to test it
- if 2 or 3 people report the tarball to work, release it (ie put it on
gna onto the downloads dir)

Is this right ?

Of course, for major releases (0.8, 1.0 and so on, it could be different)

[Wormux-dev] Wormux 0.7.1 release candidate

2006-04-24 Par sujet artefact
Hi,
Please test the 0.7.1 release candidate. You can find it at:
http://download.gna.org/wormux/rc/wormux-0.7.1-681.tar.gz

  - New graphisms for weapons from yeKcim and ZeOlive
  - New Bounceball weapon
  - Added Turkish and Romanian translation
  - Updated German and Italian translation

If no one can find a _major_ bug in it from within 2 days, I will
declare it an official release ;-)
For minor bugs, it will wait for the 0.7.2...

Could it be possible to have the SVG graphisms in the subversion
repository ?
I think we may have a 'svg' dir at the root of the source dir, like the
'data' or 'src' dirs. It may contains the svg in the same subdirs as the
'data' dir.

1Mo in all ? It is not so much. And the svg won't be in the releases, so
it does not matter.

I thought about a 'svg' dir at the root so that we don't have to modify
the configure.ac file to not handle svg when preparing the tarballs.

My idea is to have a dir tree like data, at least for the first levels, ie:
/svg
  |-- interface
  |-- map
  |-- menu
  |-- skin
|-- skin1
|-- skin2
  |-- etc...

If some svg file contains more than one picture, put it on the above
dir, I mean: if the svg contains elements for skin1 and skin2, put it in
the skin dir, if it contains some skin plus some button, put it in the
'svg' dir. etc

By the way, could anyone of our talented graphist make the icons for the
loading screens, I mean:
- for initial loading: skins loading, team loading, maps loading
- for game loading (when starting a new game): general initialization,
characters positionning, map initialization, objects positionning

Each icon might be in 2 states: not done/done, and the state 'loading'
is represented by alternatively switching between not done/done.
Not done/done might be greyed/coloured.

I have begun writing some code for managing the loading screens but it
could be better to work with real graphisms.

There's a difference between the svn repository and a tarball release. A
release is made by a 'make dist' and does not contain all the files in the
repository, for example 'autogen.sh' and some others. And, of course, it
won't contain the 'datasrc' dir.

If some people wants to use the SVN repos to build their Wormux, they
should know that, so I don't think this is a problem.

So, to resume, I think of something like:
/datasrc
  |-- interface
  |-- map
  |-- menu
  |-- skin
|-- skin1
|-- skin2
  |-- etc...

If some svg file contains more than one picture, put it on the above dir,
I mean: if the svg contains elements for skin1 and skin2, put it in the
skin dir, if it contains some skin plus some button, put it in the 'svg'

[Wormux-dev] Wormux 0.7.1

2006-04-26 Par sujet artefact
Hi,
I've uploaded a 0.7.1 release of Wormux, as no major bug has been found
on the previous release candidate.
This 0.7.1 version is from the 688 revision. 2 minor things have changed
from the release candidate:
- 'Good and evil' map from yeKcim
- Resolved bug of objects dropping down too slowly on the water.

Here is the changelog:
  - New graphisms for weapons from yeKcim and ZeOlive
  - New Bounceball weapon
  - New map: goodandevil
  - Added Turkish and Romanian translation
  - Updated German and Italian translation
  - Bug fixes

What do you mean ? If you follow the pointer every time it moves, the
pointer will keep on the center of the screen, I don't think it is very
playable... Maybe, you want to have a key or a button press which enable
the scrolling ? Or having a more progressive scrolling when getting
closer to the border. Please be more accurate.

I think you should fill a bug for that precising that this is with the
jetpack. Concerning scrolling, there are many issues and many different
cases.

Actually, there are no AI (you cannot fight against computer). Many
people ask for it but we lack time... If you want to help, you are welcome !
To switch between weapons, you simply right-click your mouse during the

[Wormux-dev] Wormux package update

2006-07-14 Par sujet artefact
Hi all,
First, I could not find any maillist for MOTU mentoring. That's why I'm
mailing to you.

The package Wormux has been introduced some times ago. , thanks to
Daniel Hollbach. Man,y updates have been made and a new package is
available here :
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/w/wormux/

It has been accepted into Debian yesterday. Can you update the Ubuntu
package ? How can we easily update when new packages are available ?

Best regards,

Hi,
When you say cross-compiling, you mean : compiling from Linux to
Windows, isn't it ?
Because from Linux arch1 to Linux arch2 (i386, powerpc or anything else)
I think that running ./configure --target= is enough. Of
course, you have to have the right compiler.
Can anyone confirm ?

It's my impression, I'm not a guru in cross-compiling :-)

Re: [Wormux-dev] Wormux package for Pardus distribution.

2006-08-19 Par sujet artefact
Hi Furkan,
Great, a new distrib !!

May you give us a logo of your distrib to put on the download page. On
your website, I could just get the full header.

And maybe, can you contribute in the translation of Wormux. There is a
bug about Turkish translation on gna.org. It is opened when translation
is needed. You can subscribe to it.
Actually, there are 2 or 3 sentences to translate plus the .desktop file.

Thank you for your contribution and good luck for your distribution,

Jean
