[Bug 1890006] Re: Hash mismatch on "apt update"
I've spent a day trying to figure out why my VMs were not working until I found this report. TLDR: Windows Sandbox in itself does not break the virtualization for Virtualbox, what does is the Virtual Machine Platform (on which I guess Windows Sandbox depends on). I'll try to gather everything I experienced so someone smarter can make use of it: So I upgraded to WSL2 which requires Virtual Machine Platform to be enabled. Couple of days later I tried opening an existing, already configured and previously working VM with Ubuntu Server 20.04, it got stuck at trying to perform some RAID6 xor check (excuse my incompetence). Shut down the VM, restore to a stable snapshot, now it got stuck at "Loading essential drivers...". Shut down, restore snapshot, reset voltages in Throttlestop (undervolt), reboot. Now the VM starts for some reason, super slow though, and I'm getting Hash Sum mismatch on apt update/upgrade. Tried a desktop Ubuntu VM, starts super slow, same mismatch error. WSL and my Linux server works fine on the same network, so that's not the issue. Finally I found this thread, and indeed, Virtualbox was running in native API execution engine, disabled Virtual Machine Platform in Windows, reboot, voila, works! I guess don't upgrade to WSL2 if you intend to use Virtualbox (WSL1 does not need Virtual Machine Platform). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890006 Title: Hash mismatch on "apt update" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgcrypt20/+bug/1890006/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 209520] Re: SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share
Updated the gvfs and samba related packages from hardy-proposed. Trying to reach a Windows Server 2003 share in an Active Directory domain environment through Nautilus' "Connect to Server..." resulted in the following message box after supplying the login info: "Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of "smb": The specified location is not mounted" Upon reloading the same Nautilus window, it produced the original "Unable to mount" message. Both before and after the update, connecting to a share on the server with smbclient works as intended (using the -U and -W arguments to specify login info). I have talked about this to Sebastien Bacher earlier this month, but I guess it should be made public that I have talked to my supervisor at work about this and we can provide remote access to a Hardy box in a Windows Server 2003 domain environment for testing purposes. I would like to ask the developers to contact me if this will be needed and we will discuss the details in private. -- SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/209520 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Steve, I'm quite confused about which bug my experiences belong under, as my original bug #215570 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug twice. To be sure, Windows 2003 shares use NTLMv2 auth. [Bug 238603] [NEW] Installing kdebase over Ubuntu install mixes up KDE default icon theme with GNOME selected icon theme
Public bug reported: I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 cleanly on a fresh HD partition and installed the Tango icon theme from the repository, then decided to install kdebase (kcontrol + its dependencies, actually) to make QT apps fit GNOME's looks with the Klearlooks KDE theme. This resulted in a couple of launcher icons in the Main Menu switch to their equivalents in the KDE default icon theme Crystal SVG. The ones I've noticed so far are Evolution, The GIMP, Opera and Scribus. The latter two have been installed from third-party sources, but their icons were fine before the KDE packages were installed. Another peculiar thing is that there are two entries for Crystal SVG in System > Preferences > Appearance > Customize... > Icons; might be related. (Not mentioning that the Delete button is disabled for both of them, since that's probably intentional as to not remove things that have been installed through the package manager as part of another package.) [Bug 140554] Re: X crashes gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0
This happened to me three times today, running Gutsy (installed RC and all updates since then). I am running GNOME and Compiz-Fusion on an Intel GMA-950 with the intel driver. I only had Firefox running in one session of the three, so this might be unrelated. However, all three times it happened was when I was switching workspaces with Ctrl+Alt+arrows (Compiz Desk Wall plug-in). I have added the line "VideoRam 131072" to my xorg.conf Device section yesterday in hope of increased performance (like I did in Feisty). I haven't come accross this problem since the day Gutsy RC was released, so I removed that line and I will see if that was somehow related. -- X crashes gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/140554 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 213856] Re: Windows and desktops flicker and flash black with Compiz enabled with the Intel video driver (945GM)
I can reproduce the problem 100% of time if I open a site that has some client-side dynamic content, in for example http://www.engadget.com/ 's case, there's the rolling news box with big images on the top right. If I have that on-screen in Opera or Firefox and initiate Expose, the screen flickers everytime the box animates. Happens with embedded Flash also, although less prominently than with rapid updates caused by JavaScript animations. I'm not sure what triggers the flashes when I'm switching desktops on the Desktop Wall, but it happens ~75% of the time. [Bug 217189] Re: Rotating screen does not flip X/Y dimensions
Right now if I rotate the screen for example right, I get a picture on my notebook's display that is 768 pixels wide (height of the rotated screen), and 1280 tall (width of the rotated screen). This, because of the display's native resolution, causes the rotated screen's width to be cut off at 768 pixels. On Windows, if I rotated the screen using the Intel driver's feature, the screen resolution changed to 768x1280 (thus portrait), allowing me to rotate the notebook physically, and read the screen as if it were a book. -- Rotating screen does not flip X/Y dimensions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217189 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This was happening to me in Ubuntu Gutsy, and now in Ubuntu Hardy Beta (plus updates) as well. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Ubuntu Hardy Beta + all updates as of the date of posting on a Clevo notebook with an Intel GMA-950 graphics controller (945GM motherboard chipset). Removed the duplicate mark as the other bug was getting crowded. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 209520 SMB error: Unable to mount location -- Cannot browse/mount Windows Server 2003 shares https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215570 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 216384] Re: Cannot close tab in Tilda
Thanks, that worked! Quite a confusing option though, I must say. It being grouped with the "Run custom command instead of the shell" option, I thought the shell itself was not considered a command in the context. That and the Leave Open option resulting in basically a useless tab is not too intuitive. -- Cannot close tab in Tilda https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216384 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 214192] Re: liferea-bin crashed with SIGSEGV in _nss_wins_gethostbyname_r()
It happens on start 100% of the time; its window doesn't even show up for a second. It's not because of my configuration, the same thing happens if I delete my old settings. -- liferea-bin crashed with SIGSEGV in _nss_wins_gethostbyname_r() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Odd, I have FramebufferCompression disabled in xorg.conf, yet there are messages about fbc being disabled in the logs. -- Windows and desktops flicker and flash black with Compiz enabled with the Intel video driver (945GM) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 215570] [NEW] Cannot browse/mount Windows Server 2003 shares
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs Ubuntu Hardy Beta with all updates as of date, upgraded from Gutsy. I'm trying to reach SMB shares provided by a server running Windows Server 2003 (Active Directory login), through Nautilus. I get the "Failed to mount Windows share" error dialog, and an empty listing. It does not ask for my password, it's not in the keyring. smb://serverroot/ gives me a list of the shares as expected, trying to enter them results in the error. Using "File > Connect to Server..." in Nautilus and filling in the login info results in the same error when pressing "Connect." gnomevfs-ls and smbclient list the files correctly, gvfs-mount results in "Error mounting location: Failed to mount Windows share". Browsing SMB shares provided by Samba on a Gentoo-based server works fine. ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cannot browse/mount Windows Server 2003 shares https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215570 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
