some news on the e-sense front

2010-12-05 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi list,

There's some movement on the haptic world, namely e-sense from senseg.

If anyone remembers, these guys have the paired with toshiba to manufacture a
thin sheet of conducive and transparent material bundled with a framework to
allow developers to create haptic features on any application, platform
independant.

Here is their site:

http://senseg.com

I've set up a meeting with them in TOkyo to test the ware out.

I believe this can be a major breakthrough for us blind users, as one of the
list's member suggested it could make a really good braille output application
and save a lot of people a lot of money.

I was thinking in the line of interactivity for appications, games, and making
it possible to feel around schematics, diagrams and objects in space.

The API holds a lot of different textures already, such as grainy, woody,
rigged, slippery and rough.

Just as an anecdote, i was getting my fiancée to show me how angry birds worked.

Now imagine being able to play these games with haptic sensitivty :)

Hoping to be able to fly overseas in January to get something constructive out
of it.

Best regards,

Yuma DX®

Re: the adobe flash accessibility petition

2010-12-05 Thread Scott Howell
I'm glad that at some point Flash may become a thing of the past, but I suspect
it will be several years before it happens. In particular with respect to
higher education. I certainly complained to the university I attended and made
zero progress. The solution was to simply require the instructor to come up
with an alternate assignment, which worked, but is not addressing the issue.
Even the agency I work for uses flash and I have tried to get them looking for
alternatives, but people like flash because they really do not have to put out
a lot of effort to complete a project.
Just my thoughts, but as far as I know Adobe has no plans to make anything
accessible for the Mac despite any petition.

Benjamin,

Well thanks for sharing and what a positive correction. So, perhaps this means
that Adobe will finally get their thumb out and address their other products?
One can only hope, but what will still be interesting is the affect html 5 will
have on flash. EIther way, maybe Adobe finally is waking up and realizing
accessibility of the Mac is as important as windows and hey, I'm glad to read
Linux is included and considered as important.

Case in point, if anyone has Facebook and plays Legacy of a Thousand Suns, the
story is text based, but they use flash to add music and sound effects and also
graphics. This is why I find it annoying because the story is actually quite
good, I just can't seem to play it on either Mac or windows. Neither screen

Re: the adobe flash accessibility petition

2010-12-05 Thread Jude DaShiell
Another case in point. The navy which is covered by Section 508 uses
flash to make all of its mandatory training. Same problem you experience
with facebook all screen reader users that use jfw are confronted with for
this reason. The alternate form of the training uses powerpoint and
sometimes even that training is done so badly screen readers can't read it
either. So we have to drop back to Plan C which involves specialists in
particular areas administering the training personally. On Sun, 5 Dec

the only way to get adobe's attention is to hit them in the wallet, HARD.
if all 15 million visually impaired in the US were to join in on a class action

Re: partitioning a hard drive

2010-12-05 Thread Jonathan Cohn
The most important thing is to have the correct icon selected in the "table"
of disks. Each physical disk will have at least two icons on the left, one
for the physical disk, and one for each partition. The partition tab at the
top only appears when you have selected the physical disk from the list.
After you select the partition tab, then there will be buttons to add a
partition.

How toburn music to a cd using iTunes:

2010-12-05 Thread Chenelle Hancock

hi marlana,
i have to agree with louie and tim about being able to burn music from your
itunes library to a cd. you can do the following: first, if your music is
already inside of your itunes playlist you can go to your burn to cd press vo
and the space bar to select the item. then before that you place the cd into
you cd slot and it will begin to burn it. afterwards, you will hear a
ringing sound then either your cd will pot out of the computer slot or it
will stop burning altogether. in either case you will just place another cd
inside of the computer and then it will continue to burn.
i hope this helps you marlana.

THanks Buddy for sharing this info. I guess I won't expect more than possible
access to flash, which I am hoping will be replaced by html 5. THis means one

Re: can I make audio cd's of iTunes purchased music

2010-12-05 Thread Marlaina Lieberg
Hi Tim.

Yes, I am delighted that I can play my music via apple tv. Only reason I burn
a few CD's is to have good music for working out on my treadmill, which is
nowhere near my apple tv.

I will try your directions for changing my views in iTunes. I really
appreciate all the help.

Marlaina,

You can do a number of things so that you don't have to scroll through all your
songs.

1. use the Search field.

• Select the Music item from the Sources List.
• Stop Interacting With it.
• Navigate once left to the Search field.
• Enter the album name.
• It should only show you songs in that album in the Songs Table.
• You can then simply make a playlist and burn it.

or...

2. Use a different view.

• Navigate right through your iTunes window.
• Select Grid view.
• Continue navigating right past the Sources List and select "Group by Albums".
• You should be able to create playlists from any album you've imported so that
you could burn a CD.

I'd also like to note though that since you have an Apple TV, you can simply
play your music through the Apple TV on your sound system and thus there isn't
really an urgent need to burn everything to CD.

Re: getting ring tones into my library, was hhow to separate your audio books and your music using vo within itunes?

2010-12-05 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Marlaina,

Were your Ringtones downloaded through itunes? If so, then they'll
automatically be moved from the iTunes Downloads area into the appropriate
Sources List area.

If you downloaded these Ringtones from somewhere else and they just reside in
the Downloads folder of your Home Directory, then that's a different animal.
For iPhone Ringtones, they must be in m4r format. I use Fission to do that
conversion although Fission is not free software. There are other audio
conversion packages that others on this list use. In Fission, once the
conversion is made to m4r, it's format is adjusted and is automatically placed
in the Ringtones area for easy sync to iPhone.

HTH.

Re: getting ring tones into my library, was hhow to separate your audio books and your music using vo within itunes?

2010-12-05 Thread Jim Barbour
Hello,

Here's a rehash of a message I posted to the viphone list a while ago
about getting ringtones from the iTunes store and a little about
creating your own from scratch.

Enjoy, and feel free to reply with questions.

Jim

-

Hey Everyone,

I spent some time playing with ringtones this morning. Here are a few
things to note.

First, one can not buy ringtones directly from the iTunes store. Even
if one searches for ringtones, what one can find and buy is an m4a
(music) version of the file. To create ringtones with iTunes,
one has to buy the music file first, and then pay the iTunes store an
additional 99 cents before iTunes will convert that music file into a
ringtone. Let me reiterate this, if you are going to use the iTunes
store to get ringtones, you have to pay the iTunes store twice. Once
to buy the music, and then again to pay for permission to convert it
to a ringtone.

Once you've decided to pay the extra 99 cents to the apple store,
here's how you make a ringtone.

1) In the menu bar, go to Edit, Preferences, and make sure Ringtones
   is checked.

2) find the music file you want to make a ring tone out of, and select
it. Again, it must be music that was purchased from the iTunes store.

3) in the menu bar, Go to store, create ringtone. This brings up a
sound editor kind of like Goldwave. From here, you select the 30
seconds of audio you want. Note that voiceover doesn't work with
this part, so if you don't have sighted assistance you're stuck
with the first 30 seconds of the song, which is the default
   selection.

4) click the buy button.

5) The ringtone will download and appear in your ringtones folder.

Finally, let me point out that one does not need to use iTunes to
create ringtones, but other methods require additional software to do
your music editing, and a lot of general fiddling around with files.

here are the basic steps, without the details of how to use each program.
Several of us on this list know how to use Goldwave and iTunes if you
need assistance.

   1) Take your music file and use an audio editor (like Goldwave) to
create a ringtone segment. That is, a small (30 secs or less)
slice of the music, that will be your ringtone. Note that
Goldwave can read and edit AAC files (files you bought from the
iTunes store), but will save your segment as an mp3 file.

   2) Use iTunes to convert this segment to AAC format. NOTE: if you
can't find a "convert to AAC" option in the applications menu,
check your CD import settings and make sure they are set to
  import CDs as AAC files.

   3) Rename the new segment file from whatever.m4a to whatever.m4r

   4) In iTunes, import the .m4r file. control+o will bring up the
import dialog, and then find and import the .m4r file. This
will put the m4r file in your ringtones folder, and will sync it
  to your iPhone.

I hope this sheds some light on this.

Take Care Everyone,

Jim

Re: hhow to separate your audio books and your music using vo within itunes?

2010-12-05 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hi.

I can answer both questions.

harry Potter can be purchased through Itunes but as you may be not in the UK,
don't know how you can get it as you may be able to get the American version if
of course there is one.

When you have a spoken file in your music folder, (I did this recently), do
command I on it so the information for that file is displayed, then if you
scroll to the right there are a few tabs, when you get to the option tab, press
vo space then down arrow when you get to the type of file as music will be
highlighted and down arrow to audio book and go to the save button at the end
by scrolling right with VO right arrow. Your file will be moved to the audio
book section in your library.

Re: musicality

2010-12-05 Thread Jason Perkins
Hi Greg,

Currently Musicality does not provide any way of adjusting the player
volume. I had always assumed you would set the player volume once, and
then adjust the system volume after that. Of course, that doesn't work
if the player volume isn't accessible. I'll look into adding this in a
future version. Thanks for the idea!

Re: getting ring tones into my library, was hhow to separate your audio books and your music using vo within itunes?

2010-12-05 Thread Colin M
Hi all!
You can make ringtones with Itunes I mean chop a track down to ringtones size!
There is a thread about this in the archives somewhere!
In this thread Jim talks about changing m4a to m4r!
I do not have a Iphone so the m4a's work ok on my nokia but someone said in
that original thread they did not think just changing from m4a to m4r would
work !
But if that does work then you can do it all with Itunes!
No need for other software! :]

Hello.
I am looking for a utility to download videos from youtube.
I would also like to be able to convert a video to mp3 so that I can get the
sound out of it.
There are various utilities for this task under windows, but I am trying slowly
to switch to the mac and use windows as little as possible.
Any suggestions?

Re: getting ring tones into my library, was hhow to separate your audio books and your music using vo within itunes?

2010-12-05 Thread Esther
Hi Tim, Marlaina, and Others,

For creating new ringtones from tracks in your iTunes music library, I
think that the easiest way now is to get an AppleScript named "Make
Ringable", which automates the process of creating ringtones from your
own music. You need to download the AppleScript from:
http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=makeringable
and place it in your user account under the Library/iTunes/Scripts
folder. If this is the first time you've used an AppleScript in
iTunes, you'll have to create the Scripts folder. You also need to set
the start and stop time for a section from your selected music track
to be used as a ringtone on the Options tab, before applying the "Make
Ringable" AppleScript. Then the instructions are:

1. Select the track from the music library and then press cmd-i for
Get Info
2. Press on the Options tab.
3. Enter the start and stop time for your ringtone in the
corresponding text fields (this should be less than 39 seconds)
4. Press OK.
5. Since the track is already highlighted, navigate to the Scripts
menu (created when you added the AppleScript) on the iTunes menu bar
(VO-m and VO-left arrow twice), arrow down to "Make Ringable", and
press return.
6. Follow the dialog window prompts. You'll be given the option to
reset the start and stop times to full track play before exiting the
script.

The script will create a ringtone of the appropriate file type, and
name of your choosing, and add it to your ringtones library. The
original music track is unaltered. This should work on any track in
your music library unless you have the early iTunes Music Store tracks
from a few years ago with DRM that prohibits this. And for an easy
way to determine the start and stop times you want to apply, get the
RestartAt AppleScript from Tim's VoiceOver Downloads page:

This will let you start playing any track in your iTunes library at
the time you enter into the dialog window text box. This works the
same way: place the AppleScript in the Library/iTunes/Scripts folder
under you user account, then use it by highlighting a track and
navigating to the "RestartAt" option in the Scripts menu on your
iTunes menu bar.

I wrote up a post for the viphone list, but with details and more time
spent describing how AppleScripts work. If you simply read the
instructions that download with the "Make Ringable" AppleScript, or
that Tim provides on his web site, you don't really need more
information, but if you want to read the viphone list post for more
details, here's the link:

Re: question about games on mac

2010-12-05 Thread Nektarios Mallas
VMware fusion is the best solution right now.
Did you increase the amount of ram that is given to windows? The default is 512
MB, which is not much.
This may improve your situation.
The other way is, of course to run windows from bootcamp, but I don't like this
for various reasons.

Re: getting ring tones into my library, was hhow to separate your audio books and your music using vo within itunes?

2010-12-05 Thread Marlaina Lieberg
I did get this working; they were m4r tones from an app I bought on iPhone
which sends the link to the files as an email and you download it using safari.
I took the plunge, downloaded the files, navigated to them in downloads and
did vo shift m on each file and selected copy. Then I got really brave and in
iTunes, I interacted with the sources table, navigated to ring tones, stopped
interacting and did vo right arrow and got to the ring tones table; I
interacted with that and did command v and voila, there before my very ears was
the ringtone file I had selected. I love it when I can make this thing work!

Hi Marlaina,

Were your Ringtones downloaded through itunes? If so, then they'll

NOTE: if you
can't find a "convert to AAC" option in the applications menu,
check your CD import settings and make sure they are set to
 import CDs as AAC files.

Jim

Wow Esther! I'm going to hang on to these excellent instructions and if the

Oops, I meant to also include the link to Tim's VoiceOver Downloads
page for the RestartAt AppleScript:

That's mostly a convenience for easily choosing start and stop times
-- or really for starting the playback of any track at a specific time
of your choosing.

You asked: Why can't we just put an mp3 file in the ring tone section of
Itunes? all the other smart phones accept mp3 files as ring tones so I don't

TK: Because the iPhone is not any other Smartphone. All the other Smartphones
don't have VO either and Apple also has a habit of using higher quality media
filetypes. The iPhone is simply different than the rest just like the MacOS is
different than Windows.

Re: getting ring tones into my library, was hhow to separate your audio books and your music using vo within itunes?

2010-12-05 Thread Tim Kilburn
Thanks Esther for this. It's very useful and once again, both you and Doug's
Scripts come through with making things easier for all. I'll add this to my
list of goodies. I'll look at adding an iTunes page soon if I can't find some
time to write up the code.

2010-12-05 Thread Jim Barbour
just changing m4a to m4r won't work. You need to make sure it's short
enough, and then once you've renamed your .m4a file to an .m4r file,
you need to tell itunes to import it again.

Re: getting ring tones into my library, was hhow to separate your audio books and your music using vo within itunes?

2010-12-05 Thread Jim Barbour
Apple wants to motivate you to use their 99 cents per song service to
get your ringtones.

That's why building your own is so fiddly.

On the other hand, that 99 cents per song helps to pay for voiceover.

Unzipping Files and Skype Recorder

2010-12-05 Thread Ezzy Bueno

Hi all,

How exactly do I extract music from a zipped folder and get it
to iTunes?
Do any of you know of a Skype recorder that will work with the
Mac?

THANKS,

Re: Skype and Adium Questions

2010-12-05 Thread Ezzy Bueno

Hello Chris,

How exactly do I connect my Facebook account to iChat? Sry, I'm
soo new to the Mac. LOL.

Ezzy

- Original Message -
From: Chris Moore Actually I am starting to get a bit fed up with Adium, Facebook
can be a bit flakey on there and not always connect. Plus I
sometimes have problems navigating the conversation window due to
a recent bug in Adium where am unable to move through the
conversation without hitting the end key first.

So I decided to give iChat another go as its been 6 months since
I last used it. And I have to say I was very impressed how well
it works with Facebook chat and how very VO friendly it is.
Adium reads out a long number which is a friends profile picture,
this drives me nuts, but iChat simply just says the person's name
and announces profile picture without reading out a silly list of
numbers which is obviously the filename allocated by facebook..

My only real gripes with iChat are if you have more than one
account, they do not appear in the same buddy list, but appear in
separate buddy list windows. Also, you can't connect to
MSN/Yahoo natively within the application.

Maybe in the future we will see these features added and maybe
integration of Facetime, Twitter, Skype?

I think iChat is a very under rated product, and does not seem to
be given much backing by Apple of late, so I think we should add
our support and send Apple some positive feedback on how it
should be developed for the future..

question for ya guys... how do you broadcast on the mac? do ya boot into

knowledge, (which, is limited, as it is with most things), there's not really a
way to broadcast on the mac, I don't think. there's nicecast, but, i thought
that just broadcasts your ITuens library.

Hay Colin,

I never could find the burn to cd button as you instructed below. I always
have to make a playlist, select the songs for the playlist, copy and then paste
them into the playlist. Then I go to the file menu and select burn playlist to
cd. I like your instructions because they seem simpler, but I think people in
Seattle, being as we are so far behind in time, (snicker snicker) were not
given that button!

changed iTunes server but purchases don't go there

2010-12-05 Thread Marlaina Lieberg
Ok, here I am again with yet another ask.

Per excellent directions from this list, I have indeed changed my iTunes server
to my music file server. that all works well; it repopulates each time I open
it and that is fine.

But, (and isn't there always a darned but), when I by albums on iTunes (I've
bought two since doing this), my purchases are not showing up on my server. I
still find navigating around my hd and to my file server to be a hit and miss
experience. Can I somehow tell iTunes to put all my purchases in my external
file server?

If not, any tips and tricks about moving between hd and file server would be
welcome on or off list.

As always, thanks so much for the help!

Burn button removed in iTunes 10 [was Re: can I make audio cd's of iTunes purchased music]

2010-12-05 Thread Esther
Hi Marlaina, Colin, and Others,

The dedicated button to burn to CD or DVD was removed in iTunes 10.
You can find the option in the context menu for your playlist if you
don't want to navigate to the File menu on the iTunes menu bar. You
can also select the playlist you want to add songs to from the context
menu of your selected tracks, if you don't want to copy and paste. I
held off updating to iTunes 10 until it was required (for the iOS 4.2
update). Some other commands that I use, like the ability to reveal
the location of a selected track in Finder, were not actually removed,
but the shortcut got changed. This used to be shown with Command+R,
and now Command+Shift+R is required to "Show in Finder:

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Hi eddy:
You can use iPhoto which will scan pictures in, but will not do any ocr. You
can get Vuescan, (try it first), for $40, and it will do pics, text pdf and
rtf. Just not much out thtere that's free.
Also, I'm working with the developer because my Vuescan has gotten stuck on
busy after having worked fine during the trial. If it works out, it'll be well
worth the $40, as compared with krzweil or the FS products for hundreds.
Good luck.

Sorry I did not know that burn button had gone! :]
Ok you can select tracks 1, 3 ,6 ,12 but its a bit messy!
I find [ for me ] it is faster just to pick each track and add it to playlist
with vo+shift+m menu! Only if you have say up to 6 or 7 tracks to pick!
If you are talking about a lot more than that the other method will be better!

Re: Double-Spacing and changing font with TextEdit

2010-12-05 Thread Esther
Hi Brianna, Tim, Marlaina, and Others,

I wanted to add a suggestion that will make it easier for you to use
TextEdit: once you have configured the spacing and fonts to your
satisfaction, save these settings as a style file under a name of your
choice. Then, when you want to create a Rich Text document with
double spacing and a specific font, all you need to do is navigate to
the ruler, select that style from the first pop up button, and start
typing.

I'll paste in old instructions for saving to a style file to TextEdit
when working in Rich Text Mode, which I think are still applicable:

1. Interact with the "Styles" pop up button in the ruler and select
"Other".
2. Then in the dialog window that appears, press the "Add to
favorites" button and supply a name for the style. You can check the
boxes for "Include the ruler as part of the style" and "include the
font as part of the style".
3. To use one of your saved style files when you open a new TextEdit
window, first ensure that your window is set to rich text format (you
can switch to this from the "View" menu, or use the Command+Shift+T
shortcut), then choose the template from the pop up "Styles" button in
the ruler.
4. This will automatically set your page to the line spacing, font
type, and alignment options that you set up for this style.

Tim's web pages have always been my favorite place to point out to new
Mac users. They're laid out the way I would want to lean VoiceOver.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Re: broadcasting on the mac?

2010-12-05 Thread Orin
Nope. NiceCast will broadcast any audio from your Mac. However, it doesn't have
awesome features like Station Playlist, like being able to talk with music over
yourself without your screen reader coming through. Not to mention an awesome
crossfader that kills iTunes crossfader. Note that you can talk over beds with
NiceCast, if you were sighted and could use effects, but we can't do that now

question for ya guys... how do you broadcast on the mac? do ya boot into
windows, then use Station Playlist? i assume that's what occurs, cause, to my
knowledge, (which, is limited, as it is with most things), there's not really a
way to broadcast on the mac, I don't think. there's nicecast, but, i thought
that just broadcasts your ITuens library.

Hello to all you apple tv users. I have just got mine, but I'm waiting on my
hdmi cable. In the meantime, I have a question. I have the remote app for my
IPod touch, and I understand that you can use this app with the apple tv,
instead of the remote. This might be particularly useful when entering alpha
numeric data in searches, but maybe for other things too? I am curious if folks
have used that remote app with the A tv and what you think about it in terms of
efficiency and ease of use compared with the remote that comes with the tv.

Re: changed iTunes server but purchases don't go there

2010-12-05 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Marlaina,

I was just thinking that maybe your Finder is set not to show connected servers
on your Desktop. This is the default behaviour when Apple sets things up but I
prefer to see them on my Desktop so I don't have to use the sidebar all the
time. To set this up:

1. go to your Desktop.
2. Press cmd-comma to bring up Finder Preferences.
3. It should be in the General pane if you've never changed that before.
4. Navigate through the choices and set things up the way you like.

I usually check the box to show Connected Servers and, I'm old school so I tell
it to open folders in a new window as well. These are all your own choice but
I do find it much easier to get to my servers and such when they are showing up
on the Desktop.

HTH.

CD burning with ITunes verses Simply Burns

2010-12-05 Thread Ray Foret Jr
To those of y'all burning audio CD's with both ITunes and Simply burns, which
do y'all recommend and why? IN short, is there any advantage in using ITunes
to burn audio CD's over Simply Burns? Seems to me that in order to burn CD's
using ITunes, you've first got to make a play list of the files you want to
burn. That's a lot of clutter if you intend to burn a lot of disks. So, any
thoughts?

Re: changed iTunes server but purchases don't go there

2010-12-05 Thread Marlaina Lieberg
Hi Tim.

Well, once I figured out that I had to close finder windows, I did see my file
server. However, all my iTunes purchases are going into my iTunes music
library on my hd; then I have to copy them to my file server. This is making
me nuts, so I think I'll just go to bed for tonight and ponder the problem
tomorrow. iTunes tells me it sees my file server, and indeed it does for I can
play stuff with it but oh my, why do those goofy purchases go to my iTunes
folder on my HD.

Re: changed iTunes server but purchases don't go there

2010-12-05 Thread Tim Kilburn
Marlaina,

Is the media on your NetGear server used by another computer as well? If so,
is it accessed using iTunes as well? If this media is just used for the iTunes
on your Mac, I'd do the following instead:

1. Start up iTunes with the Option key down. This will force iTunes to ask
for where your iTunes Library is or to Create a new one.
2. Press cmd-c to bring up the connected devices.
3. Select the NetGear server.
4. Press Create New to create a new iTunes Library folder. Make sure to name
it "iTunes".
5. Drop your music/media folder into that new iTunes folder. This folder
should be named "iTunes Media".
6. Make sure in your Preferences that the path to the iTunes Media folder is
correct under the Advanced pane.
7. If your library isn't populated, just choose Add to Library under the File
menu and add this media folder.

What this does for you is make sure that all the iTunes Library and media is
under one roof. Then you shouldn't have any issues with purchased music going
into the wrong place. You could also rename the iTunes folder in your Home
directory to maybe "iTunes 2" just so it's not accidentally chosen some time.

Let me know how it goes.

Re: changed iTunes server but purchases don't go there

2010-12-05 Thread Tim Kilburn
Marlaina,

You won't actually see anything called Connected servers, you'll see any
volumes that you've mounted from those servers as icons on the Desktop. That
is, if you mounted a volume called NetGear, it should now show up on your
Desktop as an icon that you can open like any other folder.

HTH.

Re: CD burning with ITunes verses Simply Burns

2010-12-05 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Ray,

You don't really have to make the playlist, I just usually do that so that it
is easier to remake the CD later and then it is better organized for me. With
respect to clutter, you could simply make a folder within iTunes and drop all
your burn playlists into it thus your Sources List is not cluttered at all.

HTH.

Re: changed iTunes server but purchases don't go there

Hi Tim.

Gary uses the same file server and location to play music, but not sure where
his library is. You are great, and thanks for all the help. I willl swear at
this, I mean play at this tomorrow, :)

Re: safari alternatives? was, Re: mac vs jfw

2010-12-05 Thread Nicolai Svendsen
Hi!

Well, Mozilla is already aware and working on it. In fact, if you get the
Firefox source, you can enable some accessibility features and some of it will
work. It's pretty limited, but it's a step forward.

Unfortunately, adding accessibility to Firefox is a lot more complex than you
might think. That's why it's taking a very long time to complete. Also, last I
heard, they needed help to finish their work as there is apparently not enough
Mac people to work on it.

Nic

 Hi Rick:
First thing is first, ifyou switch, you need to throw your Windows and
Jaws knowledge out the Window. Remember, this is a new operating system,
so you have to start from the ground up. You can go to
www.blindcooltch.com, and download all podcasts by Mike Arrigo. He does a
very good job of explaining the Mac.
Now for my personal opinions. Besides price, the main thing is the Mac,
and voiceover are very stable. I haven't had any freezes/crashes. I
especially like using Safari because you can get a true sense of how the
webpage is actually laid out from a sighted perspective. I can do
everything on my Mac, that I was able to do on Windows, including using my
 Tivo.

Re: Unzipping Files and Skype Recorder

2010-12-05 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hi Ezzy,

just press VO + Space on the zip-archive. Then you've got an unzipped folder
with the music. From there you can import the files to iTunes.

For recording Skyp calls and many other things you can use Audio Hijack Pro:
