Bug#433725: pure-ftpd-ldap: [PATCH] fix for alternate schema IA5StringMatch <-> BooleanMatch

2007-07-19 Thread Simon Raven
Package: pure-ftpd-ldap
Version: 1.0.21-8
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

hi,

Submitting a patch to test for either "enabled" or "TRUE". These values
are used in the original IA5StringMatch, or BooleanMatch, respectively,
for the LDAP-enabled pure-ftpd daemon. I haven't tested it but I think
it will a) work b) compile.

very simple:

+if ((pw_enabled != NULL) && (strcasecmp(pw_enabled, "enabled") != 0)

 goto error;
 }
 #ifdef QUOTAS

Just simply ORing the if statement test for "enable" or "TRUE". Why?
because some people have the old schema, and some the new one, in their
LDAP servers, and this gives them a chance to switch their user entries
over without hassles, and people can use either schema as designed.

Bug#327513: #327513,openoffice.org: override file type

Wow, neat workaround, thanks! However, I usually specify file names on
the command line since locating and pasting the name is much faster than
clicking and scrolling in the file open dialog.

I see a number of possible solutions. A command line option to force the
Text Import wizard would do, for example.

Or, I find it very frustrating that oocalc passwd.do silently opens
oowriter. The single office vision is ok in the File -> Open dialog,
where one can specify the type, or when started as, e.g., ooo-wrapper.
But if I execute oocalc, I (and probably most other users) expect oocalc
to be executed. So, as the first step, oocalc could, if started as
oocalc with a file that is not obviously a spreadsheet, bring the Text
Import wizard. That would help also the users who double-click the file
in a file manager. After that is implemented, functionality to override
the file type and open another office tool could be added (but I
personally don't need it).

With kind regards,

Bug#427406: metacity: No more mouse/keyboard-input possible, after closing crashed application

2007-07-19 Thread manphiz
According to the partial backtrace provided by Claudius Hubig, in which
the backtrace got lost when encountered libc6-i686 stuff, I've got a
Deja Vu with a recent bug reported toward aptitude(#431054) reporting
keyboard handling lost when lib6-i686 was installed under kernel 2.6.18,
and the symptom mysteriously got away when testing kernel had been
updated to 2.6.21. I hope the same situation applies here too.

Do you have semantic installed? If so, please try removing it and
report if that solves the problem. See
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=418071 for an
explanation.

If this does not help, please run "emacs22 -q" and post the contents

Bug#433729: network-manager-vpnc: doesn't support resolvconf

2007-07-19 Thread Akira TAGOH
Package: network-manager-vpnc
Version: 0.6.4svn2422-1
Severity: normal

a vpnc connection can be established through
network-manager-vpnc through network-manager. however if
resolvconf is installed, it's totally unusable because no
resolv.conf is updated.

I have spent some times to investigate why it happens, and
the reason was, vpnc brings up nm-vpnc-service-vpnc-helper
instead of vpnc-script. so nm-vpnc-service-vpnc-helper needs
to support resolvconf.

Bug#409971: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#409971: xfce4-battery-plugin: It doesn't work after upgrading to linux kernel 2.6.21

DO you have any news on this issue? It seems that gentoo needed a patch

patch as lots of users will be concerned (2.6.22 is in unstable now,
even).

Hi YAP,
I discovered that the only way to have the plugin working with
2.6.21.x is to compile, as a module (or built-in), something that in
that kernel version has been tagged as "deprecated".
Initially I deselected that just not to add things-going-to-be-removed.
At the moment I cannot have a look at that parameter since I'm not on
a Linux box, but I'll let you know as soon as I get back to my laptop.
Anyway, one day or another, that option will disappear from the kernel
tree; so we need to find a workaround, in any case.

Greetings,

mfv

There are a lot of packages which depends on libglib1.2, so I cannot
upgrade to libglib1.2ldbl.

Is there any problem if libglib1.2ldbl provides libglib1.2?

do you mean libchipcard2 or libchipcard3?

Well, I regard libchipcard3 as a new upstream version. If I'm not
missleaded upstream is not working on libchipcard2 any more and there
is even a Beta of libchipcard4.

The latter seems to have issues with the so-versions in libchipcard3-0

Any more verbose information about thes issues? (Not that I would
regard myself as helpful in this tricky library questions, but just
interested.)

Other than that, I'd happily invite you to subscribe to

and jump in as uploader/sponsor (Micha, who does a great job and did the
packages on alioth is still in NM).

That's great. I just wanted to drop a note that I know somebody who
is keen on testing the packages (Karsten Hilbert from GNUmed) and I
could do the sponsoring if it is considered policy clean and working
(trusting Karsten - I do not have a chipcard device myself). Perhaps
Karsten will subscribe to the list?

As far as I can tell libchipcard3 is ready up to some things I sent to
the list the other day[1].

OK, that's a sufficient information and I think that GNUmed people

Kind regards

Otoh, this might be a bug in the R packages. Perhaps such a package

Bug#433732: offlineimap: UID validity problem workaround doesn't work

2007-07-19 Thread Michael Meskes
Package: offlineimap
Version: 5.99.1
Severity: important

After updating offlineimap from 4.0.16 to 5.99.0 (or 1) I saw the UID
validity message for the very first time synchronizing a new folder.
Removing this information and resyncing fixed it. But now I got a new
folder again, but when I remove the local information and resync it
works once and the next time will show the very same error message
again.

I spend some time looking into the docs and found that this is
documented and some error reports are present. However, the documented
workaround (that removes more stuff than I did) doesn't change the
behaviour I see and the reported bugs are different. My problem is only
present in version 5.99.1. I solved the problem by downgrading to
4.0.16, applying the workaround from the manpage, resyncing and
upgrading offlineimap again. Seems to me that 5.99.1 has a bug when it
comes to creatung the local files.

Bug#433750: linux-image-2.6.22-1-686: UMTS card stopped working

2007-07-19 Thread Peter Eisentraut
Package: linux-image-2.6.22-1-686
Version: 2.6.22-1
Severity: normal

I have a Novatel U630 UMTS card. After I plug it in, I run a "setpin"
script that looks like this:

"""
#!/usr/bin/env perl

use strict;
use warnings;

my $modem = "/dev/ttyS0";
# Substitute  with your PIN.
# You should probably put your pin somewhere else, e.g. on an USB stick,
# an encrypted file system or something else, and read it from there...
# You have been warned!
my $pin = "1234";

$SIG{ALRM} = sub {
die("timeout: no response from modem $modem\n");
};

open(MODEM, "+<", $modem) or die("can't open modem $modem");
alarm(10);
print(MODEM "AT+CPIN=\"$pin\"\n\r");
while () {
if (m/OK/) {
close(MODEM);
print("PIN accepted\n");
exit(0);
}
if (m/ERROR/) {
close(MODEM);
print("PIN rejected\n");
exit(1);
}
}
"""

With the kernels linux-image-2.6.21-2-686 and linux-image-2.6.22-1-686
I get no response from this and it times out after the given alarm
interval. With the kernel linux-image-2.6.18-4-686 from etch, this works
fine and I get "PIN accepted" after less than a second.

So something was broken along the way. Let me know how I can help debug
this.

Bug#412215: login to certain sites does not work when using wwwoffle

At least sourceforge.net (which I can test) redirect to a https page
when logging in, and wwwoffle doesn't cache those. Additionally, I can
login fine to sourceforge.net through wwwoffle.

Aside from the https issue, I have noticed that some sites don't send
all the proper headers to identify the page as transient, ie. not
cacheable.

Squid is much less aggressive at trying to use cached data than
wwwoffle; wwwoffle is really tuned to minimizing network traffic and
indeed making pages available offline (hence the "offl" in the name).
There are a couple of options in the wwwoffle.conf file that may improve
the situation:

cookies-force-refresh = yes
request-changed = 0
request-changed-once = no
request-expired = yes
request-no-cache = yes
request-redirection = yes

(See the wwwoffle.conf manpage for explanation of the options.)

Bug#433751: inn2 package compiled without large files support

2007-07-19 Thread Eugene Migolinets
Package: inn2
Version: 2.4.3-1

It looks like inn2 package compiled without large files support.
Migrating existing news-server installation with four cnfs-buffers 10GB
each on a new server with Debian Etch, I've got the following:

Jul 12 14:03:46 vesuvio innd: CNFS-sm: file
'/var/spool/news/cycbuffs/cnfs1/ONE'
 : Overflow (probably >2GB without largefile support), ignoring 'ONE'
cycbuff
Jul 12 14:03:46 vesuvio innd: SM storage method 'cnfs' failed initialization
Jul 12 14:03:46 vesuvio innd: SM one or more storage methods failed
initialization

Package recompiled from deb-src with --enable-largefiles added to rules
file works fine.

I'm using Debian GNU/Linux 4.0, kernel 2.6.18-4-486 and libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13.

Enabling LFS is not possible because then there would be no upgrade

inn2 needs to generate both normal and LFS-enabled binary packages.

Bug#433756: O: libcdg123 -- CD+G data decoder library

2007-07-19 Thread Florian Ernst
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

This is a heavily patched version of libcdg123, a library to
decode CD+G data into animated graphical RGB data, which was supposed
to be used by newer upstream releases of xmms-singit. As the plans
regarding xmms-singit didn't quite work out as intended (see #424660),
I'm orphaning this package now.

Currently, this package isn't used by any other package in Debian and
has a low popcon count, so depending on whether xmms-singit stays or not
it might simply be preferrable to remove it from the archive.

Cheers,

It's a general bug in gnome-session. I just tried to disable other
services (like g-p-m) from autostarting and it had no effect either.
gnome-session creates files in ~/.config/autostart with
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false, but either this format is not correct
anymore or it simply ignores them upon login
Reassigning to gnome-session.

Thanks,
Michael

"freeplayer" seems *very* generic. Maybe freebox-player would be a
more descriptive name?

Bug#430832: Similar problems here, but with 64 bit apps

2007-07-19 Thread Pawel Wiecek
Hi,

I have similar problem, but with 64-bit libs. Everything works OK with
libc6 2.5-11, but when I upgrade to either 2.6-1 or 2.6-2 all 64-bit
applications segfault.

It is possible that this is caused by something local, this is a amd64 system
converted from i386 one, though as I said with 2.5-11 everything works fine.

Any ideas where to look for the reason?

Thanks in advance.

   Pawel

Bug#433026: ksh: setting & unsetting emacs mode causes segfault

I can't reproduce this but I don't have access to an amd64 system. So
I'll need your help to resolve it. Do you have any other setup files,
i.e. is the ENV variable set? Does this still occur if you run ksh as
ksh -f. Is ksh definitely linked to ksh93 through the alternates system?

Is the problem still there with the latest 93s+ version? The ideal would
be if you could apt-get source the latest ksh-93s+20070628 version from
unstable, build it from source with debug enabled and get a core file
from the segmentation fault. Let me know if you need any help with that.

Thanks

Oliver

Bug#433759: cycle: Specific french caracters as password lead to crash

2007-07-19 Thread Damien BRUCKER
Package: cycle
Version: 0.3.1-6
Severity: normal

When I enter a new female user and associate a password containing
specific french caracters like éèçàù, the application starts, but cannot be
exited normally: the cycle window remains on the KDE desktop.
The only way to exit is to kill the cycle application roughly.

The same user name with an another password causes the application to work
normally.

This bug is reproductible.

Bug#419675: I agree, this needs a kernel code fix

2007-07-19 Thread Dominique Brazziel
I bought a Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 250GB drive
yesterday, attached it in about 2 minutes, formatted 3
partitions (backup, opt and mymedia), moved the music
files (about 15 gig) from the internal drive in the
laptop to the Seagate, then commenced to do some
downloading with bittorrent. After awhile I noticed I
couldn't save any files on the mymedia partition and
saw it had been remounted read-only. That was
yesterday afternoon and I just figured out (after
numerous fsck's which deleted errors but then when
remounting the partition got error message that fsck
was required GGH) to delete and remake the
journal about an hour ago.

I've put both the hacks into /etc/rc.local and have my
fingers crossed but it would be nice (and right) to
have some restart code in the kernel.

That code posted above looks interesting, maybe I'll
see if I can adapt it to my system and give it a
whirl...

Hi,
if you want to make your life a bit easier you can base your package on
the one from Ubuntu, adjust it or clean it up for Debian if necessary.

Ant is missing from the deps. Also, why is this package called
libws-commons-util and not libws-commons-util-java?

I will do an upload later today. Its also better to put ant into
Build-Depends-Indep and not Build-Depends in this case.

Cheers,

Bug#429722: ping

2007-07-19 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
Package: dbconfig-common
Version: 1.8.35

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Any news on this? We are going to upload Zenoss to the Debian archive
and it would be great to have removal hooks to be used in our package.
ATM the best we can do is point in README.Debian the user to what to do
if installation fails due to crap left around by previous installations.

Do you want me to try providing an initial patch for the removal hooks
support?

Just le me know,
Cheers.

Ok, so I had forgotten that I had another aptitude already running in
antoher console which had just finished installing packages and was
prompting "Press return to continue.". Apparently the lock (should there
be one) didn't work since I've also been able to install packages using
apt-get in the meantime.

Cheers,

Samuel.

First thing I tried (with the -10 build, both by adding it to the
options list in fstab and "mount -o..."), mount complained that nolocks
was unsupported by(for?) nfs.

I'll give it a try, and I expect it will work because so far the only
success I've had is with this hack:
-

which should have the same effect as the patch in #433386.

I've seen mention of the problem starting with 2.6.22 kernels:

Looking at the existing K3b bugs, I found this one which is similar:

Can you try to reproduce the problem with a 2.6.22 kernel ?

Adding --with-boost-toolset=mt to the configure options was enough to
get it build again with the new boost packages on Ubuntu gutsy.

2007-07-19 Thread Gerfried Fuchs

Hello!

 Your package fails to build on hppa with the following error:

#v+
cd src && qmake-qt4
QMAKESPEC has not been set, so configuration cannot be deduced.
Error processing project file: /build/buildd/ipe-6.0pre28/src/main.pro

 See the full log on [1]. I was able to reproduce the error on paer's
sid dchroot.

 Would be kind if you could investigate and get that fixed - it blocks
freetype which in turn starts to pile up other packages waiting for it.

 So long,

I doubt the kernel revision is relevant, it's almost certainly a case of the
recent userspace mount.nfs changes.

a few minutes ago, the system didn't see I had released a key (s),
so that I got 'ss' in an xterm. I don't know

Bug#433771: acpi_fakekey uses wrong input FIFO .../eventX

2007-07-19 Thread Ralf Miunske
Package: acpi-support
Version: 0.95-2
Severity: important

Hi everyone!

I just figured out, that acpi_fakekey is not working for my devices.
(An Asus M2N laptop and a HP k704.de workstation)

An strace of acpi_fakekey gave me:
| # strace acpi_fakekey 16
| execve("/usr/bin/acpi_fakekey", ["acpi_fakekey", "16"], [/* 15 vars */]) = 0
[...]
| open("/dev/input/event0", O_RDWR)   = 3
| ioctl(3, 0x80404521, 0xbfd2d4e8)= 64
| write(3, "i\206\4\10\364\337\362\267\1\0\20\0\1\0\0\0", 16) = 16
| write(3, "i\206\4\10\364\337\362\267\1\0\20\0\0\0\0\0", 16) = 16
| exit_group(0)   = ?

Having a look at my event devices gave me (for my M2N):
# head -n 1 /sys/class/input/input*/name
| ==> /sys/class/input/input0/name <==
| Power Button (FF)
|
| ==> /sys/class/input/input1/name <==
| Sleep Button (CM)
|
| ==> /sys/class/input/input2/name <==
| Lid Switch
|
| ==> /sys/class/input/input3/name <==
| AT Translated Set 2 keyboard
|
| ==> /sys/class/input/input4/name <==
| PC Speaker
|
| ==> /sys/class/input/input5/name <==
| SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad

That means that it is definitely using the event-device of the ACPI power
button for my machines (both), but the default xorg.conf does only handle the
standard keyboard. As I guess acpi_fakekey wants to inject the key codes there,
though the man page only mentions the "correct input FIFO in /dev/input/eventx".

After modding acpi_fakekey.c a bit to see how it selects the event-device:
| # cat acpi_fakekey_mod.c
[...]
| int find_keyboard() {
|   int i, j;
| int fd;
| char filename[32];
| char key_bitmask[(KEY_MAX + 7) / 8];
|   unsigned int u;
| int first=1;
|
| printf("BTN_MISC is %d bits (=%d bytes).\n", BTN_MISC, BTN_MISC/8);
| for (i=0; i<32; i++) {
| snprintf(filename,sizeof(filename), "/dev/input/event%d", i);
|
| fd = open(filename, O_RDWR);
| ioctl(fd, EVIOCGBIT(EV_KEY, sizeof(key_bitmask)),
key_bitmask);
|
|   for (j = 0; j < BTN_MISC; j++) {
|   if (TestBit(j, key_bitmask))
|   break;
|   }
|
| if (j < BTN_MISC) {
| printf("found event%d with : \n",i );
| for(j=0; j would select this
one <-\n"); }
| printf("\n");
| }
|   close (fd);
| }
| return 0;
| }
[...]

I got theese "key_bitmasks":
| # gcc -o acpi_fakekey_mod acpi_fakekey_mod.c && ./acpi_fakekey_mod
| BTN_MISC is 256 bits (=32 bytes).
| found event0 with :   # POWERBTN

Sureley all three devices have bits set below BTN_MISC.

By the way: I'm using 2.6.21.6 with config:
| [...]
| CONFIG_ACPI=y
| [...]
| CONFIG_ACPI_AC=y
| CONFIG_ACPI_BATTERY=y
| CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON=y
| CONFIG_ACPI_VIDEO=y

| CONFIG_INPUT_JOYDEV=y
| CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV=y
| CONFIG_INPUT_KEYBOARD=y
| CONFIG_KEYBOARD_ATKBD=y
| CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSE=y
| CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2=y
| CONFIG_INPUT_JOYSTICK=y
| CONFIG_INPUT_MISC=y
| CONFIG_INPUT_PCSPKR=y

As a quick and dirty hack
| CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON=m
solved the problem for me by reordering my devices, but I think it's not the
way to do it-

Cheers,
   Ralf Miunske

 changes between files. The "delta files" that Xdelta3 manages are
 stored in RFC3284 (VCDIFF) format.

It didn't work as I expected.

- I applied the patch, reboot, no nfs mounted /usr.

- Did: "apt-get --reinstall install nfs-common initscripts"[1], to make
sure I hadn't forgotten to revert any failed attempts and I was on the
current page, reboot, no /usr.

- Went to apply the patch and found it was already applied (mostly,
tried both with and without the initial "portmap=no" line), reboot,
no /usr.

- re-hacked the portmap init script, reboot, all nfs imports are
mounted.

I've had 6 sucessful boot using the portmap script hack above, ~12
failures using the various hacks in the bug reports and trying to start
rpc.statd at various points.

Bug#433776: fantasdic: Build-Depends on non-existent libgtk-trayicon-ruby

2007-07-19 Thread Michael Bienia
Package: fantasdic
Version: 1.0beta2-3
Severity: normal

Hi,

fantasdic build-depends on libgtk-trayicon-ruby which got removed from
Debian unstable (and Ubuntu gutsy) and now fantasdic FTBFS on Ubuntu.
This will also affect those who do archive rebuilds on Debian unstable.

BTW: is it wise to suggest a removed package?

Michael

Similar, but not exactly the same. My system hangs as soon as a drive is
there, regardless of inserted media. Anyway, I'll test 2.6.22 soon,
didn't have the time yet.

  Description : utility to create ELF boot images from Linux kernel images

 mkelfImage is a program that makes an ELF boot image for Linux kernel images.
 .
 The image should work with any i386 multiboot compliant boot loader, an ELF
 boot loader that passes no options, and is compliant with the LinuxBIOS ELF
 booting spec or with the Linux kexec kernel patch.
 .
 A key feature here is that nothing relies upon BIOS calls, but they are made
 when necessary. This is useful for systems running LinuxBIOS.
