I'm tinkering with the new RedHat 6.2beta on my Cyrix 6x86 and noticed
something.
Every time PUMP tries to renew the DHCP lease on the ethernet adapter the
DHCP server running on the other ethernet adapter passes pump an IP and
the cards start a flip flop loop of the IP Addresses.
I viewed the dhcpd.leases file and found that the mac address of the dhcp
served ethernet card was in the list with a local IP address. I found this
odd as I was unable to use my internet connection.
DHCP was also forced to run only on the 2nd ethernet adapter with a
modification to /etc/rc.d/init.d/dhcpd. I think there needs to be an
option to force the DHCP server to only bind to a single interface. Say
another file in /etc/sysconfig for it eh RedHat?
Side note, PUMP cannot run a custom post bring the interface up script as
the dhcpcd package can or the dhcp client in the dhcp package can. Also I
noticed that the scripts for bringing up an interface do not allow you to
use DHCP without pump even when dhcpcd is installed.
Either way if anyone can help me figure out what is causing this I would
love to know. I don't know if RedHat 6.1 did this or not.
TIA
