I believe there are a total of ten 200k brevets this year set up by the four
local clubs (SF, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, Davis), all of which could be
considered an "introduction" for those riders capable. Four of them are
still coming up. Each of those four clubs offered longer rides (300, 400
and 600) for even more ambitious (cocky) riders who feel the 200k is also
not an adequate introductory distance. Santa Cruz still has all of these to
run in the coming months including a 200k on July 24th.

What doesn't happen very often is a shorter distance populaire. This will
be the second year SFR has put one on, free for both years. Before last
year there hasn't been one since Santa Rosa put one on it 2006, also free.
Coincidentally that ride was my introduction to the sport, and a mighty fine
introduction.

Of course every brevet I've ridden has been on a Rivendell.
