DT's on a bike designed for club rides is kinda laughable-- not that there is anything wrong with them, just that NO ONE on any club ride that i have ever done or seen uses them. Lots of club riders today have never even ridden DT's. I have only ridden with them once and hated it-- what a dumb place to put the shifter! But I came of age with integrated shifting. Along with that, if this bike is gonna have any chance of being taken seriously in the club-rider world, IMO, it CAN'T have them. I think what it comes down to, is that this is just a different kind of bike from Riv, and something that we haven't seen from them before-- and while this is surprising, I think Grant explains it all pretty well. This is not your typical Riv.
