The WSJ just mentioned that American's life expectancy just passed 78.
That's basically 80 years old - to be _expected_.

Folks who retire at 55 - what are they going to do for 25 years... at a
minimum? But that's another thread, maybe.

Well, yeah. <s> Min 10 hrs a week, well over 20/wk in the summer. The
rest of the family thinks I'm nuts. Actually, the whole neighborhood does.

I'm planning on living to be 150, so right now I'm only 1/3 dead. 100
years to go means paying attention to my health is critical. Folks at my
age who are already walking around like they're old people make me sad.

Making it part of my morning routine, though, is key for me. Some people
like to work out in the afternoon, but it's so easy to blow it off (or
have it canceled on you by someone who Needs Something Right Now.) The
second workout, then, is the fun one, but also where I can work harder,
depending on how I feel.

I've had to change things around with these Achilles. Ride every
morning, swim twice a week in the afternoon (three times turned out to
be too much), plus another ride or two in the afternoon over the winter,
ride every non-swim weekday in the summer, plus long, long rides on the
weekend.

If I can start running again, I hope I have enough sense to not try to
run 12x/week again.
