Focus on the common user:
1. marketing
2. ease of use
3. single CD install

I'm glad there's Ubuntu, for whenever somenewbie asks me what Linux should I
try.  Advanced users don't ask this question, can decide for themselves.

I never tried Ubuntu, but I got a friend who uses and from the looks of it,
I don't think I can stand using it myself.

Mandrake FTW!  A large contrib repository, plf; the better rpm wrapper;
devel packages for everything.  And still easy to use.
