A few quick points: - There isn't a single cache. There are actually multiple persistent and somewhat independent systems in the viewer. - The cache controlled by the UI is known to be unsafe beyond 31 bits at the present. So, 2GB and no more. Whether *that's* a good idea on any particular host is an open question.
