Why not?  It's the only platform OpenOCD supports where the
libftdi + libusb stack seems to be a bad option.

Yes it would make sense.  Only Windows users_need_ D2XX; on
other platforms, users have an alternative with fewer hassles.

No mess, no fuss ... everyone else is using libftdi + libusb
with no particular problems.
