I now have an ASrock P4i65G. The chipsets are Intel 865G (north bridge)
and Intel ICH5 (south bridge).

I've been using Ubuntu for a long time, but I have very little time to
spend with updates and such, so now I'm using Debian. So getting,
compiling and testing a new kernel is definitely the last thing on my
mind. I just don't have time for that. And Debian 4.0 probably will not
go after kernel 2.6.18 (currently 2.6.18-5-686 is the default kernel for
Debian).

Also, ICH5 is not a recent chipset, so I don't think someone is still
developing drivers for it. But I'm not sure about that.

This is the default lavrec behaviour, and I never changed it. Anyway I
checked it out, nothing has changed.

It could just be that my integrated sound card has something wrong.
Unfontunately, the warranty is only valid if the soundcard (or any other
part of the mother board) doesn't work under Windows!

No, it was janosk that posted it, sorry!

Many thanks, anyway, you are always very kind.
