Hallo > I finally disabled the on-board sound card and got back to my old > Ensoniq 1371 (long live it!). No more problems, except for a "device > busy" error due to the esd daemon: since I don't need sounds from GNOME, > I simply disabled esd, and now lavplay plays fine. I still use the SB-Life, and Ensoniq 1371 cards. The thing is that they work. The other thing is that my mainboard has no built in soundcard.
the 1371 is not able (or the driver isn't) to handle playback and record at the same time. Or is able to to multiple playbacks. That is one thing the SB-Live can do. Which mainboard do you have ? > So the problem could be related to the sound card, instead of lavplay. > Please note that the software and the video card are the same, I only > changed and configured a different sound card. Have you tried a newer driver (means newer kernel) for the sound card ? Depending on what the developer improve, it can help > I had to disable the on-board ICH5 sound card for another, very strange > problem: it plays fine, but it records very, very badly. You might be able to work around that problem if you tell lavrec not to touch the mixer, when you use -l -1. The other mail you sent: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ lavplay +n -U test.avi > lavplay1.9.0 > lavtools version 1.9.0 > ++ WARN: [lavplay] Unable to set negative priority for audio thread. > ++ WARN: [lavplay] Pthread Real-time scheduling for audio thread could not > be enabled. > 0:00:12.00 (000360/000361) - Speed: +1, Norm: NTSC, Diff: 0.0162401 You should not need to add the norm when playing back a video. > The playing without the -U crashes lavplay or glav due to error mapping > audio buffer. If the driver does not support the mmap playback/recording. That is "normal". > Can anybody please offer suggestion or help make glav or lavplay work? Normally I would ask you to try recoding the sound with other applications like rec (from sox). Or maybe testrec (from the mjpegtools) mainly to see of audio recoding alone works fine. If you have problems when recording audio and video. auf hoffentlich bald, Berni the Chaos of Woodquarter Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] www: http://www.lysator.liu.se/~gz/bernhard ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
