That ist likley because there are some changes for the 2.6 kernel
included.

What command do you use ? If you don't use the -U/--use-read option try
to add it to the lavrec command. 

That problem ist soundcard related. What sound card do you use ? Using a
different sound card might also solve the problem.

Recording without sound works without problems for a longer time ?
