        Well, true.   But it _could_ be the only thing if a dedicated
        capture/edit system is being used.   The final product could
        be exported to a huge RAID setup for serving, viewing, streaming.
        A smallish system dedicated to capturing and then GigE for 
        transferring to the bigger system works out quite well ;)

        From the sound of the initial query I got the impression that the
        system was going to be dedicated to capturing/editing and perhaps
        encoding afterwards.   In that case the cheapest IDE drive that
        can be found will be more than adequate for DV capturing/editing.
