What has occurred in the last ten years that specific to China provides evidence that it is replacing the US as the world's top imperialist power? Has China's finance capital replaced US finance capital as the dominant player in capital markets? If so, references please that track this replacement over time. Does China function as a supplier of surplus value, a source of profits for the "advanced" countries, or is China aggrandizing surplus value from other countries in masses and rates greater than the US? What is the market value of China's investments held outside its borders? How does that compare to the asset values held by the US outside its borders? Part of the problem with structuring this as solely an issue of competition between an aging "alpha" of the capitalist mode of production and an emerging one is such an argument ignores the condition of the mode of production as an integrated/disintegrated whole-- that the so-called threat of China is triggered by the intrinsic barriers to capitalist accumulation that exist as part of the mode of production as a whole. Does anyone think that this so-called threat/ascendancy of China exists separate and apart from the acute dislocations of the entire network of capitalism, including China, in and since 2008-2009?
