I fully agree that the reactionary bourgeoisie is not wedded in principle to
constitutional principles or institutions (aka bourgeois democracy), though we
might be in disagreement as to whether it has already adopted Bonapartism or
fascism as its preferred model, which was the subject of my previous comment.

And let's not limit ourselves to the reactionary bourgeoisie. Capitalists of
all political stripes are inclined to switch between parties in defence of
their own interests which is why value the option to do so through the present
constitutional arrangements. We’ve just seen striking evidence of this in the
exodus of Musk, Zuckerberg, and other tech barons from the Democrats to the
Republicans in pursuit of promised tax breaks and the deregulation of crypto
and AI. As you know, the propertied classes have only reluctantly surrendered
power to a single authority above them when their rule has been threatened from
below.

Apart from the big bourgeoisie as a whole having no interest at the present
time in abolition of the two-party system, it ahould be noted that it's
ironically the Republican right rather than the Democrats which is presenting
itself as the strongest defenders of "The Constitution" - with good reason
since it has gained control of all three branches of government.

I’m sure we’re also in agreement that so long as the working class and its
allies have the opportunity to defend and advance their interests through the
electoral system, even a badly compromised one such as in the US, they should
continue to do so together with engaging in strikes, demonstrations, and other
mass expressions of their democratic rights.

Hopefully, we'll see workers of both parties move in this direction and beyond
as the Trumpists continue to implement their reactionary agenda, and become for
the first time in our political lifetime transformed from a class in itself to
a class for itself. I'm confident we're in agreement on this point as well.
