The Subject line of this thread says it all. The longest threads that garner
the most engagement on this list are often those where people insult one
another such as quoted Marxists and sometimes there's a paranoid practice of
"outing" people for their political transgressions.
Instead of dwelling on last year and smug 'I told you so' insults, we should be
discussing strategy, tactics and actions for this year. Some of us are still
active on the left and want to consider what has gone wrong with our Palestine
response so far? Why did we fail to constrain the administration or affect its
response? Was it simply a matter of historic forces overwhelming a tiny left?
What about our strategy and tactics, which includes dressing up in masks and
keffiyehs, carrying a foreign flag, and chanting to free a place that cannot be
found on a map? We are in year 2 of the Gaza genocide, and strategy and tactics
topics very much belong on this list, at least for the people who are active in
these movements and interested in a debate that, at its best, draws on multiple
generations of the Marxist traditions from around the world.
There is also the immigrant-defense actions that have been hardly considered on
the list.
Or the finer points of the labor theory of value, the relationship of value to
price, etc. would be a fine alternative to wasting time sticking our tongues
out at each other.
