Hello Michael M: While I like you believe a vote for Harris better than none or Trump - at the very minimum - I think your post-elections demands warrant a somewhat sharper tone.
Moreover: It would be better to preface any 'demands' (only useful word if there is a capacity to truly "demand") are best placed *before* the day of the election. That is to say in as visible a public forum where this is laid out and an intent to follow thru' made clear. Someone of your academic and visible stature for instance could get a good fistful of like-minded progressives to wrote this as an Open Letter in some 'prestigious' paper like for example the NYT. But at the end of the day - It is in any case quite meaningless unless *there is* a concerted move towards a broad third party formation. If that means joining the Greens and taking it into a really broad movement so be it. If it means joining the DSA and actually working to make a *real* viable broad party - so be it. For my part - I think that Sartesian's one cogent point about the whole business is that this was *not done* after prior elections. Such a broad front party is the absolute minimum to effect what you say in your clsoing paragraph: "If Trump wins, resistance will be in order --- in whatever forms are available (helping women travel to "free" states like the 1860s underground railroad comes to mind! --- helping deliver abortion medications either camouflaged through the mail or OUTSIDE the USPS --- etc." At the risk of raising your hackles, I think you would not be surprised to hear me say that a in addition, a separate related new party formation of a Marxist-Leninist is also necessary.
