I use it all the time. The only problem is that Mailmate only lets me define a few addresses. This is a problem when I'm composing a new email. I have to remember to change my From address from r...@runbox.com to r...@mydomain.com. I'm not sure what it is that you want to do that MailMate doesn't do:
- Do you want to predefine hundreds of email addresses and then pick one from a list when composing a new message? - Do you want to type in the desired 'From:' address when composing a new message and have a failsafe so the message won't get sent until you do? - Do you want to predefine hundreds of email addresses and have MailMate automatically select the right one when composing a new message?
For the first option, you can do this by entering all email addresses, separated by command, in the “Email Address(es)” field of the account. You can compose the string in a text editor and then copy and paste into the “Email Address(es)” field of the account.
For the second option, you could set the “Email Address(es)” field of the account to something invalid (e.g., "FILL_IN@1.2.3.4". Then, if you forget to fill it in, the message won't get sent.
For the third option, MailMate does this to some extent, but I don't understand fully what it does. If you start a new composition window and then start typing a recipient, MailMate often/sometimes changes the 'From:' field to the last 'From:' address used for that recipient. I don't understand exactly when it does versus doesn't do this.
