Hello Anita, Did you try reading the VoiceOver Getting Started Guide that you can find in the VoiceOver Help menus? (VO-H). You can also read this on the web: http://help.apple.com/voiceover/info/guide/10.8/English.lproj/index.html
Look in Chapter 9, "Customizing VoiceOver" for the section on "Assign VoiceOver commands to keys" that describes assigning keys in KeyPad Commander. If you want to custom define gestures, look in Chapter 11 under "Assign VoiceOver commands to gestures". If you're using an attached numeric keypad, you can customize NumPad commander definitions associate with the keypad keys. Finally, you can use third party software like KeyRemap4MacBook (all one word, with the number "4") to remap keys. You can find Eric Caron's guide and podcast at the AppleVis.com site on "New & Updated: Remapping the Keys on your Mac's Keyboard to Enhance the VoiceOver Experience". http://www.applevis.com/podcast/episodes/new-updated-remapping-keys-your-macs-keyboard-enhance-voiceover-experience In case that link wraps, here's a shortened version: http://bit.ly/Qu1K2e Eric describes, among other things, how to customize your keyboard to use KeyRemap4MacBook to use the caps lock key in place of the Control and Option keys for VoiceOver keyboard shortcuts. Please read through the comment posts on that web page, for updated changes in the later version of KeyRemap4MacBook; you now find the remap settings in the application itself, rather than the preference pane for the application.
