Hi, Let's make one point clear here, in case no one has done it yet.
It is not necessary to use List mode Command-2. It depends entirely which view you are comfortable with. For example, I use Icon a lot, which is Command-1, but mostly Column view which is Command-3. There are of course benefits to either view, and even though you come from Windows which uses the equivalent of list view in Mac OS X, you might find you might like either of the other views better. Just something to consider and try out, though I understand, of course, that since you come from Windows using something familiar might be more comfortable for now.
