This is a very interesting discussion. I like the cloud for some things such as syncing calendars with my husband, wherever either of us happens to be, has avoided many an unfortunate clash of appointments. However, we’re lucky and live in an area with good fast internet access. I run a French discussion list for blind users of Apple products and many list members live in places without this luxury, such as parts of North and West Africa, and even parts of rural France. I was recently unable to provide distance training to a new Mac user because his internet connection was insufficient to handle TeamViewer and Skype at the same time.
