Hi Tim,
This might be a new thread but would like you to expand on this
offline access. If you lose internet for any length of time and you need
to access data in the cloud that is not on your local storage, what then?

Hi,
I really like Cloud services, but do prefer when they have off-line
capabilities. Using Google Drive for example, or a ChromeBook, if they did not
allow for off-line usage, one would be rather frustrated when the Internet
access was unavailable. Normally, I live somewhat in the middle of nowhere,
but with excellent Internet connectivity. So, Internet access between home and
elsewhere is rather spotty. Being able to work off-line with syncing once
you're back on line is the best option in my opinion.

This is a very interesting discussion. I like the cloud for some things such as
syncing calendars with my husband, wherever either of us happens to be, has
avoided many an unfortunate clash of appointments. However, we’re lucky and
live in an area with good fast internet access. I run a French discussion list
for blind users of Apple products and many list members live in places without
this luxury, such as parts of North and West Africa, and even parts of rural
France.
I was recently unable to provide distance training to a new Mac user because
his internet connection was insufficient to handle TeamViewer and Skype at the
same time.
Cheers,
