the GUI for "fleqn" still says "[ ] Indent Formulas".

However, formulas are always indented (except for documents with "fleqn"
and "mathindent=0").

This avoids also the paradox that you currently must tick "Indent Formulas"
(and set the custom mathindent to zero) to *not* indent formulas!¹

¹This reminds me on Windows: Click the "Start" button to open the "Shutdown"
 menu.


The internal variable should use a name in line with other settings.
There is no setting starting "is_", most boolean settings start with an
action  (\use_,  \maintain_, \suppress_).

I propose \use_fleqn or \align_formulas.
