We won't cut that of. But note, to have a fully functional LaTeX installation, you at least once need to open an Internet connection and reconfigure LyX to get the LaTeX-packages LyX needs. There is no other way.

If we remove the dictionaries and thesauri from the LyX installer, it will require quite some manual work to install them. There are different files for the dictionaries and thesaurus lists that need to go in different directories. For multi-user installations it's also impossible to download them directly to the program files because of the need for administrator privileges.

Creating separate installers for each language (as we did for Aspell) is not an option because of the huge maintenance burden. Unless a more user friendly solution is developed, I'm not sure it's a good idea to remove the files from the installer.
